I really love the look of the old stadiums. I was hoping you guys might show off some or your items showing them.

For me I really love the D322 with Forbes Field on it and other things like postcards. One thing you don't see much is things showing Recreation Park or Exposition Park in Pittsburgh.

Anyone have an opening day pin from Forbes Field they would show?

First is a couple of PC of the Elysium, which was once the largest indoor ice rink in the world. At one point it was the home of the Cleveland Falcons, which became the Cleveland Barons, before they moved to the Cleveland Arena.

Second is a PC of the Luna Park Entrance. Inside Luna Park was the "Luna Bowl" and also a baseball field. The Luna Bowl was the home to many early professional football teams in Cleveland. The Luna Bowl was originally the "Motordome" which hosted early motorcycle racing. The baseball field was the home to a handful of Negro League franchises.

Third is a couple of PC of Baseball games at Brookside Park. Brookside park is rumored(I haven't been able to confirm this) to have been the location of "National League Park II" in Cleveland. It's also noteworthy for having held the record for the largest attendance at a baseball game in 1914.(If I remember correctly it was mentioned in Ken Burns' Baseball)

Finally, a PC of Municipal Stadium postmarked 1935.

This one is a game being played in 1911 at the Ohio/Pennsylvania League ball field in Liverpool Ohio. It has the most amazing photo I think I've ever seen on an rppc

Outside of Cleveland, the only PC I have of an old stadium is this one of the Polo Grounds with McGraw.

Tony,

The Liverpool RPPC is excellent. I am wondering though is that by chance East Liverpool, Ohio?

Hi Jon. Thank you for the kind words in regards to the rppc. I believe it is East Liverpool. Behind the grandstand you'll see a very tall old brick pottery kiln.
See the link below I've provided which tells us where these kiln's were located. Good call!!!

Not a postcard but I picked this up off of Ebay about a year ago. It's a scorecard from the first game the Indians played in Cleveland Stadium against the Philadelphia Athletics. Mel Harder vs. Lefty Grove.

Hi Steve and thank you. Originally I thought it was from the fifties until another board member with more experience of Yankee stadium from that era told me it's more than likely 40's era. Great shot of a legendary ball field.

Speaking of construction... I won this today. It's just one page from the original Cleveland Municipal Stadium blueprints, dated 1930. Fittingly, me being an ironworker and all, it's one of the structural steel pages(structural aluminum in this case, if I remember correctly) from the American Bridge Co. These are just the pics from the auction, I'll get some better pics as soon as it comes in..

I only have a few stadium items and I am nit sure this meets the criteria of collectable but I have this 8 X10 of pre-bleacher Wrigley Field. I love the pitcher and batter figure on top of the scoreboard.

Beatrice Nebraska circa 1910 at the driving park followed by Beatrice 1913. Beatrice was in the MINK league in 1912 and in the Nebraska State League in 1913.

Beatrice after lights installation. Lincoln was the first NSL team to have lights installed in 1930, this is probably after 1932. Last pic is the same area today.
