...or would it only be eligible for an "A"?

BTW..this card is not mine, it belongs to another SGC forum member!

There seems to be some differing of opinion between Earl and Brian as to what SGC considers a miscut. I have always though that if a card also has another card it is automatically a miscut. What say the Net54ers??? :D

It's difficult to say and the best thing to do may be to present them with several examples they have already graded and ask what the criteria is that dictates why some get numerical grades and others only receive an "A."

I believe SGC changed their standards on centering a few years back and that they are more in line with PSA's today. Unfortunately many of the older grades give the impression that they are very soft on centering.

If you look at their grading standards posted on their websites, PSA is actually more lenient on centering.

PSA 9: "Centering must be approximately 60/40 to 65/35."
SGC 96 (9): "60/40 or better centering."

PSA 8: "Centering must be approximately 65/35 to 70/30."
SGC 88 (8): "65/35 or better centering."

PSA 7: "Centering must be approximately 70/30 to 75/25."
SGC 84 (7): "70/30 or better centering"

I think if you send customer service a scan they will tell you. I sent them a scan once to see if they would even slab a badly trimmed card and they let me know they wouldn't.

Maybe SGC only views a miscut as a card that does not have a true rectangular shape, even if it includes another card!
