Whats everyone got on the greatest ball player of all time? I'd love to see some scans. All I have to offer at this point are my 34's.

I can add a few...not sure if the photo looking thing is a card or photo....I guess it's sort of a photo-card...

Wow, thanks everyone for sharing. Those exhibit cards are sweeeet! All the great photo's are great to see as well. Whats up with those crazy rawhide clips? Funny thing, no one questioned my "greatest ball player of all-time" claim...What he did in 14 full seasons is still amazing.

Larrupin' Lou took a shot at Hollywood stardom in 1938. It did not go well, but it did produce some nice items. The photos are original publicity or production photos. The card is a Coney Island Arcade card from the 1950s or 1960s.

My one and only. My first pre-war come to think about it. Missing a corner, but I loved the eye appeal and the price. Sorry Wally Pipp...

Al, that second pictures is great. Thanks again everyone for all these posts. Those cards are amazing and overall I think I appreciate the exhibits more than anything else. This guy was such a stud. W/o the tragedy, he was on pace for possibly 700 hrs, and it woulda been a stretch but 3000 rbi's....wwii would have happened as well though but Lou woulda been about 37-38 and im not sure if uncle sam would of taken him. Anyways, thanks again.

Well.... Perhaps you are missing something... The first thing you are missing is obvious... The second thing you are missing is that the 4/1 was issued around 1930.... Spahn didn't make it to the majors until 1942... 12 years after this card was issued... So he couldn't possibly have been put on this card.... Then there's still the first obvious reason... Not to forget about that one... :)

Amazing!

In your 2nd photo... The one Lou is signing his contract, Check out the SIZE OF LOU's HAND!?!?
It appears to me that it's TWICE the Size of the others hands in the Photo!

If Gehrig isn't the Best, His Numbers will always keep him in the Debate :)

Here are a couple of bargain-bin Gehrigs from my collection. The first is cut from an Exhibit card 4-in-1 and the second was clipped from a Sunday News in 1939 ...

[QUOTE=leftygrove10;922279]1929 Anonymous 4/1 Exhibit.... Here Gehrig is shown with the Greatest Left-Handed pitcher of all time.... Two greats on one card!

Bill James had a very, very hard time in choosing between Grove and Walter Johnson as the greatest PITCHER of all time, period, and the Big Train narrowly won out over old Mose!

Great card,

Larry

I wonder what type of pitcher Gehrig was?

He would have been the greatest of all-time had he chosen that direction...

Jerrys: It is a movie studio photo but not from an actual production. Gehrig tested as Tarzan for Tarzan's Revenge but the producer didn't like him and chose someone else.
