Today I received a full reimbursement check for the card shown below that I purchased from an online auction (not EBay).

Scott Hileman could not have been more gracious helping me with this matter. He kept me up to date as to where I stood in the process and genuinely provided kick ass customer service.

Scott...thank you very much.

First off let me say I love SGC and will only use SGC when it comes to grading.

What happens when a card is severely overgraded? I paid a pretty good buck for this tough card and recently noticed some paper loss on the front.

Originally I never noticed the paper loss when I looked at the card. I know buy the card not the holder. Hate to pass this off as a SGC 50.

Just wondering,
Matt

Are you sure it is paper loss and not something on the face of the card?

A few months ago I purchased a 40 play ball mathewson psa 4...i got it and it had the thinnest cut 1/8" into the card...i would have busted the case had i wanted to keep it, but i cant really sell it undisclosed. buy the card, but i didnt expect that flaw.

If you still like the card, but feel the grade was a blunder (I agree), this is a perfect case to enforce on the "guarantee".

Send the card to SGC in that holder and have them look at it. If they downgrade it (and they should), my understanding is they owe you the difference in value between a 4 and what it really is (maybe a 2).

I have heard that their first offer will be to make that value good in grading vouchers. This is worth it if you use SGC much. Otherwise, I think they owe you the cash difference.

Cheers,
Blair

Hey There Matt!

I also feel the same about SGC.... For one, they Back up there product!
(The last I checked...)
Talking with them is only going to make you feel better about what you might view as a loss right now.

The Folks at SGC really are the real deal! I would suggest giving them a call to discuss the cards situation and then send them the card. I'm pretty confident that they will help you out!

A few years back I had a T202 60/5 that I paid 13 or 1400 dollars for, I sent it back for regrading and SGC regraded it a 40/3. They also included a $900.00 Check... and they did it ALL for Free :)

So if your uP to it, Give'em a Call and Let uS ALL Know of the outcome?

Matt: Just saw this thread. It's not just SGC. Really ironic for me the card you posted and the grade because back in my lame brain buying days, I purchased the tough Karger in PSA 4. Here is the card. Now I don't think that mine is paper lose but it is tough to tell through the plastic. It looks like added paper on the front or some dried up gunk on the card. I have since upgraded to an SGC 60 but still have this one.

Live and learn :)
