I've been a sort of passive collector of these items, made annually from 1948 thru 1956. Pennant winning teams from each league in a typical three or four rows deep array of players - really neat to own. I'm sure some of you have these, which allows me to come, at last, to my question.
When I started collecting I noticed that cards for 1951 and 1953 were lots harder to come by than any of the others. I finally took a look at PSA's Population report, and discovered that they have graded no cards from 1953 at all, though all of the other years are well represented. The logical conclusion is that Exhibit made no team cards for 1953, though both the Yanks and Dodgers would have sold well.
Anybody know why?
