Paul, I emailed the seller and asked them the same thing. Let's see if they reply.

Explain this? One of them is the other original. It's simple.

Additional oddities: the eBay seller has had an eBay account for nearly 10 years and only has a feedback score of 18 (all as a buyer), AND they had the account for over 6 years before registering their first feedback score.

Neither of which is impossible I guess, but both strike me as odd.

Here is one I don't understand either.

Nate Sanders, official auction site:

Nate Sanders, ebay account:

Hard to say if it is American Memorabilia or the eBay guy who has the original based on their reputation...

I contacted the Ebay seller and the following is his reply:

They are taking it off. I have contacted victor

I noticed those too. I think the Nate Sanders auctions has the reserves so high, I doubt there will be many/any real winners. I would bet most of those items will be staying up on Ebay at there outrageous BINs

What is Sanders' reputation? He has some nice auctions, etc. But you don't hear much about him. Is he legit?

Legit, yes. Obsurd prices, yes again.

And with AMI operating at their usual speed, the auction is still up there.
Interesting that they put up an auction for an item not in their possession.
What could have made them do that, I wonder?

Is there a point to commit this kind of fraud (pilfering images) anymore, with the strict Paypal guidelines in place?

Yesterday on eBay, I sold a $50 item and the buyer paid and IMMEDIATELY filed a complaint against me, noting he did not receive the item and therefore that amount paid went into limbo as Paypal reviewed the complaint. ??????????????????????????

As far as Sanders go, I have placed bids in their auctions, got outbid and saw the same items in the next catalog. I don't know what to make of it as my bids were more than generous and if someone topped me, why was it offered again?

being a ring collector, i had made a fair offer for the ring on ebay about 1 month ago (before his company internet auction). they came back with a very very high counter offer. I called the office and asked to speak with Nate. I was hoping we could find some common ground. Although I called 2 or 3 times, and was promised each time Nate would return my call, he never did.

If Legendary, or RAE, or Gray Flannel held an auction and a buy-it-now ebay auction at the same time, this board, rightfully so, would be all over them and crying fowl. Nate deserves the same scrutiny.

Recently American Mem. had a 1977 Yankee ring from Reggie Jackson, that he gave to a family member. They sent an email to their contact list about auctioning it.

Jackson went to court and got a court-order to stop the auction. AMI still shows the ring on their home page!

Mike...the problem is that 90% of the people on this board have no idea who Sanders is.

He tends to sell outside of sports and the people that do know of him, know he is pricey.

#5 underConditions of Sale for Auction says the following: If a lot is offered subject to a reserve (the confidential minimum price below which the lot will not be sold), we may implement such reserve by biding on behalf of the consignor, whether by opening bidding or continuing bidding in response to other bidders until reaching the reserve. Nate D. Sanders may own some or many of the lots in this sale.

That would explain your situation and exactly why I personally prefer not to bid on their auctions any longer.
