It's time for the second annual Boston-area Net54 lunch! Last year was a huge success and folks have been asking about when and where the next one will be.

We'll keep the venue the same since it's a great location for all - Papa Razzi at 16 Washington Street in Wellesley, right by the 95/90 intersection.

Last year's attendance included frequent posters and lurkers - a great mix of ages, interests and good fun. We also brought 'show and tell' - my favorite part :)

I posted a poll to ask the Boston-area Net54 members about the best date to hold a lunch. I'm on vacation the first couple weeks of August so I'm thinking late August/early September. The polling will run for at least a week. The date with the most number of votes will be the winner!

Can't wait to see everyone this year!

I think any of these except Sept 3 (Labor Day weekend) would work for me, with August 20 being the best option....

Any chance for a Sunday gathering? It's a little hard for me to make it to Saturday lunches...
Thanks

Hi Friends,
My family trip this year will be to Hilton Head island. I can't wait to see all the kids, grand-kids, nieces and nephews plus us old folks in this 13 room house we rented!
We will be back after August 16th, so health permitting, i'll be able to attend!
I'm very excited about attendeding and seeing the old familiar faces and the ones I only know by user name!
Count me in anytime after 8/16! That Papa Razi is 2 exits up the Mass Pike for me! I am disabled, so I will have a friend drive me.
That being said, everyone enjoy the National, have fun here on Net 54 and enjoy your hobby!
All my best wishes,
Bill Hedin
ps: Any clue who this is and what early 80's movie it's from?

To answer Bill's qusetion, the movie was a tv movie from the early '80's "Don't look back"
Lou Gosset playing Satchel Paige.
Saw it a few months ago and a few times before that

Edited for spelling

Jay, thanks for the info on th movie! I've had that still since the 80's as part of a large deal with a TV publicist that traded me thousands of publicity stills for cards.
As for us meeting here in the Boston suburbs, it will be an honor to attend. I can't wait to see both Scotts and the rest of the local 54 crew!
I recently saw that Scott 9ghost0 did a deal with my pal Greg Nazareth from Florida. Here's 2 great guys that i am honored to call friends and of course the rest of the 54 community is #1!
Have a great National to those going. Anyone going to be near Hilton Head 8/6 thru 8/14? If so, pm me! I'll be there re-cooperating with the family!
Regards,
Bill Hedin

I'm going to close the vote on Monday...I need any and all late comers to vote because we have a three way tie! If the score remains as is, I'll have to flip a three-sided coin to break the tie :D

Whatever date you pick is fine with me! I've been feeling better and doing much better this summer and I look forward to meeting with you all.
I can no longer drive, so I will have one of my card friends from Framingham go with me. I hope that's ok with the rest of you! It will be either Bob Verner or Lou Turieo who have been my close friends since the 60's!
BTW, I'll be with my wife, children, grand-children from 8/6 till 8/14 in Hilton Head, SC if anyone would like to come by and talk cards over some cold drinks, let me know!
See you all soon.
Regards,
Bill Hedin

Hi everyone!
I'm at Hilton Head with my wife and all our children and grand-children.
I'll be back late next week, and I'm so happy that we are all meeting on 8/27!

The ocean air and salt water are doing wonders for my legs, so I'll be ready to join you all and we will have a great time!

See you all soon! I'm proud that my 600th post is about our meeting!

Your Friend,

Bill Hedin

Hello Yankee haters:
Its awesome to see you guys pulled this off and are doing it again! How many were there last year? Lunch sounds like it worker better than dinner? Sounds like it was very social? Was there a lot of trading, buying, selling? What worked vs didnt work for you guys? We are trying to start the same type pf thing in Ann Arbor MI so any help is very much appreciated. Good luch this year!

Hey Steve,

Sent you a PM with some suggestions on how to setup your own lunch, but briefly, yes last year was a great success. I think we had about 7 people show up. Some were familiar faces and there were even a few lurkers from the board. We didn't do any buying, selling or trading. It was just a casual lunch for us to talk about what none of our other friends are willing to - card talk!

The lunch lasted for about 2 hours I think. Everyone did bring something for show and tell. We saw some very cool stuff.

Hope this helps and good luck with your regional gathering.

Erich

Hi Friends,
I'll be looking forward to meeting on 9/17.
I want to extend an invitation to you all to meet at my house in Framingham any pre-arranged weekday. I have a bunch of card friends (past and present) that visit weekdays after my wife goes to work.
Message or email me if that interests you. I'm easy to find off the Route 30 mass Pike (I-90) in Framingham, and my dogs Holly and Sadie as well as i look forward to meeting here any weekday!
Rawn, thanks again for your wonderful surprise and I truly hope to see you soon my friend!
God Bless,
Bill Hedin
ps: Hoping the Hurricane misses us and does minimal damage .
