We declared our Independence on the July 4th 1776. But, at.....

Taylorsville, Pennsylvania.......was the site of the beginning of this great free Nation. This picture depicts General George Washington
forming his troops to cross the Delaware River on Christmas eve 1776 on his march to victory in Trenton. Every Christmas this historic
crossing is re-enacted at Washington Crossing, PA.

Have a happy and safe 4th of July, every one.

Crafty 'ol George with the end run on them ruthless Hessians! Need to read the details again, been ages.

If you haven't already, check out the Battle at Cowpens. Clever move by the rabble.

Love this stuff too Ted.

You want this? If Leon and everyone did I could probably do this pretty easily.

What I recall about reading of the Battle at Cowpens (1781) was that it was not only an impressive victory for our Revolutionary forces.....
but, it led to our victory at Yorktowne.

Just like Washington's victory in Trenton on Christmas Day 1776 led to subsequent victories in Princeton, NJ (Jan 3, 1777) and Valley Forge,
PA (Winter of 1777-78).

Great stuff, great thread....Steve.

GOD BLESS AMERICA on our 235th Anniversary.

Happy 4th to everyone, especially those serving!

Regarding the Battle of Cowpens, I believe the end scene in the film The Patriot is based on the Battle of Cowpens.

Yes......Mel Gibson's final battle scene in The Patriot was at Cowpens, South Carolina.
