Does anyone know what the 1952 Topps Mantle PSA 8 went for? It doesn't show up on the website.

Was shutout the first night but had 3 wins tonight. I faced stiff competition on all these lots but managed to come away with the e103 group of 19, the w517 Minis and the Tatoo Orbit group of 43. I know next to nothing about Tatoo Orbits and I suppose I'll be taking the time to learn a thing or two....anyone want to give me a crash course on this set? :)

I thought you might get the minis...

I got absolutely killed on my consignments and nearly all of the cards I wanted went high.

Congrats on the 1931 W517 Mini's, Brian.... I was watching that auction, but it went beyond where I was willing to go....

I picked up the 1936 Overland Candy Wrappers and the set of 1929 R315's. I have been looking for a 1936 Overland Candy Wrapper of Lefty Grove for many, many years.... I can finally cross that wrapper of my wantlist!!!!

Struck out on a few lots that I wanted, but ended up picking up the Star Player Candy Gehrig, which I'm happy about.

As is my want, I was underbidder on several lots...most notably the 1913 Oakland Oaks set. I did end up paying pretty well on the lot of 4 notebook covers with Wagner/Cobb/Mathewson/Griffith. Anyone have any idea if these could get a numeric grade from SGC...or are they destined to be "Authentic" examples?

Tough break on the Oaks Tom. That was my favorite lot in the entire auction. Just couldn't pull the trigger now that I'm retired. :(

Tom:

Very nice notebook covers. I believe that they would be "Authentic" with SGC.

I really wanted the r300 set (actually just one card). However, 11k was slightly beyond my budget (about 50 percent too far). I would appreciate hearing from the winner as I and several others here are interested in some of the cards.

I only won one lot, and it was only a PSA 1, and it wasn't even Pre-War.

Craig - That Mick is sick ! Ok, that is two low grade Mantle's that look Ex and Ex-Mint in a slab. What in the wide world of sports is going on !?!

Great notebook covers, I do have the Cobb, I had it professionally framed, not graded.

Yea....I don't get it!! NO WAY is that Mantle a PSA 1. What in the world happened the day that thing was graded!?!?!?!?!?!

When I think of the grade PSA 1, I think of a card that is falling apart, and on it's last legs!! One step away from the trash can! What part about that card made the grader think that it was falling apart!?!?!??

Craig: That is an absurdly nice 52T Mantle. Is there a micro-pinhole that netted the 1 grade? Just having picked up a very decent 40/3 in Mile High I think we should pat each other on the back for being so smart in obtaining our cut-rate post-war Holy Grails.

Jeremy: Nice T211 Perdue. ;)

I was happy to land a nice looking T4 Obak for the type card collection.

There is a current auction at Goodwin for the Wagner notebook cover. It too is graded authentic. However, the auction description claims its only authentic because the borders were trimmed into the red, leaving no white. Not sure if this is correct, but if it is, then all of your copies would still be SGC eligible for numerical grades.

Craig, great pickup. I'm sorry, but I was one of the final few bidders against you. Went too high for me. Card is priced like a 2.
