Can anyone shed some light on these 8 x 10 team photos?

The players are wearing 1925 Cincinnati Reds "hand me down" uni's. One is wearing a Clearfield, Pennsylvania uniform. One of the pictures is marked: C & C league 1929.

The only Reds player from 1925 I've been able to identify as being from PA is "Rube" Bressler. I'm assuming he may have provided these to the local team. But who knows???

Thanks for your time,

Chris

I think you may be trying to be too logical about the path of Major League hand-me-down uniforms. I remember handling an old NY Giants jersey which came out of a western state (Utah? Montana? Can't remember...) There was a newspaper article from the 1980's with it which interviewed the owner before our consignor. It noted a letter the industrial team owner had sent to the club, and the letter back requesting something like $5 or $10/uniform. There was no official connection between the two clubs. I think this was probably fairly common back in the pre-war days before the dawn of farm clubs.
