Hello everyone, I saw a thread a while back that discussed this and I cannot find it. I was wondering if the board knows who the players that died young are that appeared in the american caramel sets? I know Ross Young is one, but I think there might be others. Thanks for the help on this What might have been thread.

There's Urban Shocker for one more. And Billy Southworth Jr, who, I think, appears on the E-121 card with his father.

Chicago White Sox player Harvey Mc Clellan
is in the 1922 E120 set.

During the summer of 1924, he underwent two
gallstone operations that forced his retirement.
He died of liver cancer on November 6,1925.

Thanks for all the info everyone. I am becoming interested in the American Caramel issues now that I am pretty much done hunting Fred Toney stuff. I was going to get into N172 cards but they are way to expensive. I am researching to see what sets are a bit more affordable for me. I already have a Toney No Trees and a Toney with trees so I figure it might be a good set to start with.

I do not have one but I love the image on the E121 Billy Southworth card. He is the one that later became a Manger for the braves right?

Billy Jr. later would go on to play high Minor League baseball from 1936-40 and when we entered the war heenlisted and was killed on a flight training drill in 1945.

Daubert is a good one. Pete Kilduff and Charlie Hollocher also died young.

I remeber about 1988-1989 was when I decided to get 1933 goudeys autographed but I really liked the e120's. Unfortunatly Ed Rousch has just died and I had just missed the liked of Joe oeschger and Larry Kopf. I did manage to get a Joe Hauser signed and in recent years I picked up this Waite Hoyt. ALWAYS LOOKING TO BUY SIGNED E120's :)
