I'd like to see what people consider their favorite card. It's ok if you post a couple as I know it's difficult to choose just one sometimes. If you are anything like me your favorite changes from time to time. Right now mine is the Fan Craze Jake Beckley. I like the old time look he is sporting and generally think it's a neat looking card.

I know this is a pre-war thread, and my current primary focus is pre-war, but I just can't let this card go. Cal always was, and always will be my favorite player, and nothing in my collection, regardless of value or significance, has ever been more important to me that his 1982 Topps Traded card.. It's also the first high dollar card I ever worked hard and saved money for as a kid. So to me, it also represents that change from a typical kid/teen's collection to a more serious adult collection.

Heck, I can't decide, but these are definitely at the top of the vintage class:

http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibitman/4on1pcbackset/websize/4%20on%201%20Ruth%20Hornsby%20Walker%20Carpentier. jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibitman/4on1pcbackset/websize/4%20on%201%20Johnson%20Simmons%20Tunney%20Leonard. jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibitman/4on1pcbackset/websize/4%20on%201%20Criqui%20Shade%20Judge%20Cobb.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibitman/4on1pcbackset/websize/4%20on%201%20Groh%20%20Harris%20Dempsey%20Kansas.j pg

Now, turning away from rarity and value and towards pure sentiment:

http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibitman/miscellaneouscards/websize/1976%20Aaron.jpg

The above was pulled from a pack when I was 11. I somehow kept it in nice shape through cross-country moves, earthquakes, burglaries, marriage and other tragedies.

http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibitman/miscellaneouscards/websize/Aaron.jpg

Meeting a childhood idol can often be anticlimactic or even disappointing--Pete Rose and Willie Mays come to mind--but not Mr. Aaron; he was every bit the class act I hoped he would be. Remains my favorite player of all time.

And just because I can't stay away from non-baseball subjects:

I've always loved that 76 Aaron card even though not a HUGE fan of Aaron (I like him) or the Brewers, and Hate the DH. Go Figure. Here's my favorite that is scanned.

Thanks for the props Justin & David. SGC claims a light surface chip on the reverse of the Lajoie portrait just above the letter "P" in Piedmont interferes with the parallel lines that run up word & shortens them ever so slightly. Talk about splitt'in hairs. I have never seen a nicer Lajoie portrait in any grade. If there was ever a card that screamed crack and re-submit to PSA this is it. :D

Surprised me greatly to get a 9. But PSA giveth, and PSA taketh away ... Sometimes I think they do it for fun. The higher the grade, the more likely they are to find the card miscut or off center.

This "Runner Sliding" was my first pre-war card. And it is still my favorite. followed by the Hubbell postcard schedule (I don't quite know why, but I really like this card). And the Trammell RC was my first big money card. I got one for Christmas when I was 9ish. I sold it later, but when I got back into collecting again last year I made it a priority to get one back. Its ugly, but oh so beautiful to me.

Easy pick for me. The one constant as my collection has evolved over the years is this Voskamp. It has been my hands-down favourite since the day it arrived. If I could only keep one card in my whole collection this would be it.

If, on the other hand, I could keep adding Voskamp's to my collection, that would be my preference ;)

Great cards all!

Richard.
