I need some help. I recently acquired a 1907 Dietsche Ty Cobb postcard. I would like to know if anyone can help me figure out if its authentic. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Post scans front and back and someone here should be able to tell you.

Dan, have you ever heard of the Dietsche's being reprinted? Anything is possible, but we have been collecting this set for years and never heard of any being reprinted.

I never have, but anything is possible these days....that's why I prefer my postcards to be postally used from the era they were made. :)

This set has definately been reprinted. They are on eBay every week, FWIW

Judging from the picture of the set on that closed auction it looks like it will be pretty easy to tell the originals from reprints.

Lord have mercy. My search results have never shown those.

I uploaded scans of the front and back. the card is very thin and the front has glossy finish. Please help to tell me if this postcard is the real thing. It appears to be very old, I don't know if these had a glossy feel in front or if they were thick or thin

Thanks
Steven

My guess is fake. The word reprint is known to be located in the exact location of Cobb's name written on the lower back. The reprints are also glossy and pretty thin. I hope for your sake it's good, but I have serious doubts.

Best,

Andy

At a glance the postcard looks like a modern printing that has been artificially aged as well as the name Cobb added to cover the reprint stamp. Sorry....
