A fairly inexpensive way to collect pre-war stuff is by collecting premiums. Here is one I just picked up. If anyone has any they would like to show we would love to see them.....regards

I also have the '26 Gehrig and the '39 Williams. Just no scanner or cam at the moment. I'm really starting to love the m114's, and they look great framed.

Leon:
I have the same 1939 pirates premium. Is there a check list/price of these anywhere? I particularly liked the fact that Wagner appears as a coach in the photo.

Leon -

Is there a date on that Dean? There are 4 M101-8s that I know of :

Jerome H (Dizzy) Dean - unknown (to me) date
Vernon Gomez - unknown (to me) date
Charles John Grimm - Sept 1, 1932
Lonnie Warneke - Aug 4, 1932

Then I got this 2 sided thing which is probably ca.1948 and maybe a premium?
( I have 4 of them, and seen 6 others, no dups)

Hi Doug
According to the SCD those are the 4 in the set. There is no date on the Dean I am told. I don't have it in hand yet but I believe that is the case.

Leon,

When are you moving to Pittsburgh? Premiums from Duquesne Pilsener and the Pittsburgh Milk cards from 1947.

These Goudey premiums are not rare but are the toughest of the R303 varieties. Still need to find 6 to finish the set.

Some M101-2 supplements - classify them however you'd like, they are some affordable additions to my 'card' collection.

Not sure why but this issue only had five subjects, and three were team photos. Would love to see the DiMaggio or any of the teams if someone has them to share.

Thanks Dave! It's a shame with that Ruth, as with many others in this thread, that despite the clarity it has at a very large size, it doesn't come across sufficiently when shrunk to the size needed for this thread.

HBroll: That last Ruth is a publicity photo from one of his times in Hollywood working in movies. It was used as the base photo for this Exhibit card:

http://photos.imageevent.com/exhibitman/interestingexhibitcards/websize/upload%201931-32%20Ruth.jpg

Is the name on the front part of the image or is it handwritten? If the latter, you would have the original art for the card.

Hi Exhibitman,
Thanks for the info on my Ruth photo. Unfortunately his signature is part of the image and not handwritten. I checked the 2011 SCD and it says that Exhibit card is the rarest Exhibit card to feature Ruth. Would you have any idea what my photo would be worth? And is it as scarce as the Exhibit card itself? Thanks.
Howard
