Old Cardboard's new on line edition reports that a "full deck of the unique sepia toned Williams playing cards was recently discovered and is set to be auctioned in REA". Actually, this set was sold in the Hunt November 13, 2010 auction for $10,000. I think it is a quick turnaround for an expensive set like this. It will be interesting to see if the seller covers both set of auction house costs.

I could see that set having flown under the radar in Hunt.

I agree!
Wouldn't surprise me if it went for double that amount...perhaps even more

These are pretty strong statements for anyone considering consigning to Hunt

I think 10K is pretty much retail for that set.

10k is retail for the color version; as I understand it, the suggestion here is that since this is the "rare" sepia version it would go for more.

Despite sepia being rare I doubt anyone is going to pay a huge premium for it, above what a color one sells for. Of course, we don't know what one or two collectors may or may not do.

Coincidentally, I just checked my email and found an Old Cardboard update with some details about the set. It has more than just a color difference. There are three new players including Billy Sunday, different player combinations than were previously known, and it has an altogether different look to it. Given that information, I do feel it could be worth a premium over the standard set.
