that the brand name has taken the place of what they make?

For instance, at a family dinner, do you ask to "pass the gelatin" or "pass the Jello"?

Another brand that dominates the market would be Kleenex. I know I can't ever remember asking for a tissue.

Now those two products have the lion's share of the market but there are some products that don't enjoy that luxury and still, when a waitress ask me what I would like to drink, I always answer "a Diet Coke please." Now Coke and Pepsi have been neck and neck for quite awhile now, but you wouldn't know it at the casino I work in. We've had an exclusive with Pepsi for a decade now and the overwhelming majority of my customers ask for a Coke or a Diet Coke.

There are more products out there than you would think, that fit the bill. Let's here what you come up with...

Xerox. Many people refer to making a copy of something as "xeroxing" it.

Even generic plastic flying discs are called Frisbees.
To a lesser extent, how about Jacuzzi?

Xerox. Many people refer to making a copy of something as "xeroxing" it.

That's an oldie but a goody Jeff. I was waiting to see who would come up with it. Now I'm probably older then you Jeff but I would think that people that actually still use the term "Xerox" instead of copy gotta be at least sixty or so.

Here's one... Tabasco. I don't think that too many people ask for hot or pepper sauce.

Really terrific choices by all, so far. It starts to get harder now. So be creative and give it your best shot!

Now, when I'm looking for anything online, I simply "Google" it.

That would be this generation's "Xerox"

From the medicine chest comes a plethora of brand name products that fit the bill...

Preperation H - Ex-Lax - Neosporin - Visine - Bactine - Advil/Motrin (A slight edge to Advil) and two other staples that have already been mentioned in Q-Tips & Band Aids.

Nice, Leon. ;)

Another one from the medicine chest would be Alka-Seltzer.

From the kitchen comes Saran Wrap, Baggies, & Drain-O.
