What will be your collecting focus for 2011? Mine will be something slightly different.....type cards :)

Mine will be quarters. Just trying to part out the stuff that I'm not into anymore and add to the never ending type collection.

I would like to complete my 1933 DeLong set and add a couple more neat pieces. My budget for 2011 is around $2000.

Just continuing on with my current sets, but hoping to finish up the E91A-C series as well as my T206 Waddell run (just need Sov350 Throwing, Hindu Portrait).

1. T210-3 Houston Buffs
2. T206
3. Houston Astros Autographed Cards
4. E95

I also hope to finish my 2010 Topps Chrome Football Set (Still need 10), and if I really catch a break at run into some cash, I want to add a nice Tris Speaker caramel card (or maybe a T3) to my collection.

More of the same: Exhibit cards and Exhibit cards. Did I mention Exhibit cards?

1. Hope to add 50 graded T206s (VG-EX to EX) to my collection this next year.
2. Also, I've been working on a small Negro league collection. Whatever comes my way on this I will buy. If I have my choice I would like to add a Raymond Brown.
3. I will also probably add a few higher grade E cards if I can buy them right. I especially like E93s, E96s, E101s, E102s and E92 Nadja Caramels. But I'm open to just about anything pre-war.

It all depends on how well I do flipping post-war cards.

My main goal this year is to get my collection organized. I have about two-thirds of my T206 collection registered on the SGC site, but I would like to get pictures attached. I'm also working on a Webpage with my son that features cards from 1909-1919.

Best wishes to everyone with their collections.

I have several goals, some attainable, some probably not (unless I get lucky with what is offered this next year)

1. Complete the 1922 Zeenut set (need 10, unfortunately one is Lazzeri)
2. Get 1911-27 Zeenut collection to 1400 different cards (currently at a little more than 1250).
3. Get E254's needed for master set to 25 or less (sitting at 33 right now)
4. Complete E121-like back Type set (still need Leader Theatre, Shotwell Mfg.)
5. Set up at the 2011 National (didn't do last years because of timing & distance--2011 should be more doable)

Easy-

1) buy more T206-already have done so with three purchases since Christmas.

2) Buy some more pre war E card types

3) More Brooklyn Dodgers cards for my team sets

4) More Topps type cards for the expanding archive.

Sorry the last two are postwar!

More of the same...

Hopefully pick up the handful of PCL catchers cards I still need in the 1912 Zeenut and Home Run Kisses, 1909-1911 Obak sets, and add some more Chief Meyers colored S74 silks.

I also hope to add a few more early catcher masks, mitts or catcher figurals on the memorabilia side.

Happy New Year,

Patrick

Focus? I am not familiar with this word. Is it part of the new teen slang? My collecting intents for 2011 are to spend enough money to feed a small third-world country (such as Hawaii) on cards that fill no niche in my cardboard hoard other than that they look purty in the catalog. If I can pick up some of the remaining E90-3s and PC796s I need that would be nice, too.

Continue with the Black Sox theme of Weaver & Gandil items. Would like to add the following in 2011:

Chick Gandil - A nice C46 & T212.

Buck Weaver - A nice E100, T207, & Zeenut.

And lastly, continue to work on my T206 HOF portrait sub set. Need many, but am very picky as far as eye appeal goes.
This could take a while, but the search for just that right example is a fun journey I'm having a ball with.

will probably upgrade my T205 set from being the world's worst to merely really bad. Going to take a little breathers, but will probably look at another set to do.

I will be trying to complete the first 100 T206s alphabetically in SGC50 or better. The reason for this is that I have 2 large display cases in my man cave that hold 50 graded cards each. I decided to display the first 100 T206s in these, but every time I get a new card, I have to take both displays down and shuffle all the cards around to add the new card. So my focus is on the first 100 T206s.

Right now I have 69 of the first 100 in SGC50 or better. The first 100 are going to be tough. There are many hall of famers and some tough Southern Leaguers.

The toughest part is that you have 4 Ty Cobbs, 3 Mordecai Browns, 3 Chief Benders, Eddie Collins, Jimmy Collins, and 3 Frank Chances (among other HOFers) and you have a few tough SLers: Bay, Breteinstein, Carey.

I would like to get all of the "commons" and I would love to add my first SGC50 Ty Cobb this year.

To get all 4 Cobbs in SGC50 is going to cost me over $5,000 alone..........so that probably won't happen this year.

I plan on plugging away at my T206 set. More specifically, I would like to add mostly HOF members, and finish off the Red Sox team set.

I would like to appear on the Hoarders show and have the first ever smackdown with the organizer/pychiastrist when he suggests I donate or throw out my vintage baseball card collection :)

I'll continue looking for interesting Reds cards and '33 Goudeys, but as for focus, very difficult for me.

That opening postcard of Leon's looks pretty cool, Reds theme and from Oxford, Ohio (Miami University, my alma mater). I kind of wonder though if life starts at 70, does that mean he was going to begin drinking, smoking, chewing and chasing Wild Women?

I'll still be looking to add real photo cards of fellow Kansans and those that played in Kansas. Also any postcards and cabinet photos from the state of Kansas.

Any Nebraska Indians items I don't currently own and Lincoln minor league memorabilia and cards.

Would love to locate at least one other Weaver's Wafer card.

I anticipate finishing a set of T59 Flags of All Nations cards, which I recently started after picking up a quarter of the set at one of my local cards shows.

I also plan to re-dedicate myself to focusing my T206 National League pitchers collection after losing some focus and picking up all sorts of great T206s across the entire set.

I have a few things that I'll be working on.

I recently passed the 50 mark on my White Sox prewar type set - I hope to reach 100 by the end of next year.

I expect to finish my T206 team set soon (I'm only missing the Burns, Dougherty portrait, Fiene fielding, Hahn, Jones portrait, and White portrait). Then it will be on to the team Super Set! :(

I also hope to add to my T205 team set, and to my 1941 Goudey team master set as well.

My focus will pretty much be the same- picking up as many T206's (that I don't have) in V/G to V/G-E/X condition, and attempting to gather as many different backs as possible.

I will also look for some oddities, name on top and bottom, wet sheet transfers, etc.

Maybe try to get a Cobb or a Matty..........

I'll probably ditch the last sliver of my HOF collection and continue to add to my Texas A&M players in MLB collection focusing mostly on pre-war and 1970s.

Looking for some more HOF exhibit cards and adding more type cards, both pre (E105 mello mint, E98, T3 and T202), post (Unissued Hostess card sample, Yoo Hoo with Tab, Kahn's, Topps punchout)

I'd like to add 2 SGC 40 t205, 206, 207 to my Phillies collection a month. I'd also like to stop each month once I get the two and wait till the next month :o I'd like to add to my PSA7 topps 1960 set, and bang out a good number of the easy ones. I am sending 200+ ttm topps heritage and chicle cards out and I hope to get a 30% return.

I also plan to thin my modern collection out. I feel more connected to my vintage cards and they simply just make me happier.

I'll probably pick up a couple T206, only need 5 more to hit 518. I tried to narrow my focus a little towards the end of 2010... limiting my daily ebay searches to C46, Obak, and Fatima player cards. Hope to make some headway on those sets.

I plan to stop buying so many modern packs and save that money for some nice, lower grade vintage HOFers. Also, no more of the game used modern cards (I am keeping my Ruth & Musial though) as those things aren't cheap.

I'm also going to try and complete my 1952-2002 Topps signed HOFer collection (one card from each year, no duplicates of players).

Focus isn't a concept I'm used to dealing with, but in 2011 I'll be looking to advance my T205 set (SGC graded) and E90-1 set. I'm also about 1/2 way on T222 and Tattoo Orbit and working on T209 and T210 Richmond players. For me, that's focused.

In 2011, I hope to thin my postwar collection in order to pick up a couple more T217s; at least 10 T216s; at least 25 Zeenuts I need from 15, 19, 20, 32; and, more prewar Hockey (especially C55 and V304). Anyone have T217s in PSA-1/SGC-10 they'd like to sell?

I've been out of the bb card scene for some time, so best for me to start getting re-aquainted with those here all over again!

I collect
military tobacco cards
T206 rare backs
T215 Red Cross
Black Sox

For the past few years I have been pondering the idea of a 10 or 25-card collection. In theory, 2011 will be the year that I finally sell off the odds and ends in my collection and only trade-for or make purchases in pursuit of this. Of course, in practice, I'll probably have a 25-card collection and my pre-1920 Toronto collection, and a handful of 1956 Topps cards, and ... ;)

Richard.

I'm going to try to get my T206 collection up to around 50 -75 cards this year. I know slow and steady wins the race. This year I would like to get a Walter Johnson and next Christmas my first Ty Cobb. I would also like to get a Hindu back this year as well. Happy New Year everyone!:)

My very modest collecting goals for 2011:

1. Qualify for Boston Marathon (oops, wrong thread)
2. Respectable Walter Johnson playing days card
3. Joe DiMaggio playing days card, graded VG-EX or better
4. Diamond Stars HOF player, graded EX or better
5. Batter Up HOF player, graded EX or better
6. Complete 1952 Bowman set (currently about 80% with all of the HOFers)
7. 1952 Topps HOF player, graded EX or better
8. 1954 Topps HOF player, graded EX or better

And last but not least, contribute to the board by starting at least a couple of thought-provoking threads.

Happy New Year, guys!

Happy New Year, guys!

Paul- As one of the moderators this last thought of yours strikes close to home. Sometimes I am amazed at the knowledge and depth on Net54 yet most folks won't contribute or start a thread. I understand folks think they might get pounced on (which I don't think will happen) or they don't think they can contribute due to a lack of knowledge, but I can assure you, every vintage card, or hobby thread is appreciated very much. I hope more people will make this a resolution also. Oh, about the Boston Marathon, good luck. That would be quite a feat. When I was in the service I ran quite a bit but never 26.2 miles at once. I did do a forced march of 25 miles in full utilities and gear but that story is for another time. warm regards and good luck with your focus.
