Hey folks, there is some new blood in the Philly area and I encourage vintage dealers and collectors to participate. I will be set up there for sure and Ted Z has already booked a table!!

Unbelievable.

I have to ask, do promoters think about what they are doing?

Within less than 150 miles there is this show, April 15-17, and the Long Island National April 16-17.

I have to believe that there are some dealers that would do both if not on the same weekend, that will now be split between the two, leaving collectors complaining about the lack of dealers and quality material at both, and perhaps the promoters each with less sold tables.

Not to mention that there are collectors that would also do both if not on the same weekend, thereby increasing attendance at both.

I'm happy for collector in the Philly area, but . . .

At times I think this hobby can be its own worst enemy.

I have never been to the Long island show but I have done many philly shows way back to the Willow Grove days.

In the pre-EBAY days & pre-overrun Auction days, BB card shows would regularly coincide on same weekends.
Happy hunting hobbyist hopped from one show to another show (within reasonable distances of each other) in
the same day....or, on alternate days.

There really isn't a problem with New York and Pennsy shows coinciding on the same weekend.

Hi Dan - I clicked on the link in your post to CSA's website. I don't see your name on the list of dealers who will be appearing at this new show. You may need to nudge Marco to update his list!
Best, Val

Philly is a long way from my casa, but I am interested in going to the show...I am a long-time friend of Marco's. I think it will be good and you have a promoter who is a lot closer to the collector that Upper Deck. I also like Philly. I am sure I can find some new business calls to make in the area.

Looking forward to the show. It is an allstar lineup. Many of these dealers no longer set up at the other PA show. I am looking forward to going. Thanks for sharing.

Happy Holidays!

I just signed up for a table as well. It will be my first table at a show in almost 20 years. Should have a bunch of good stuff as the partnership grows after the new year!

My dad and I have been to almost every Willow Grove/Ft.Washington/Valley Forge show for the last 28 or so years.....it would be great to see large concentration of vintage dealers again. We will be there.....

I talked to Nial today with Collector's showcase. They are excited about it. It will be a test of if the old-time collectors show can still be successful and they think it can. I am hoping to make it up.

Haven't been to a show in a long time but this one is shaping up to be a good one. Only problem is how much of my spending money will go to the IRS on April 15? That will determine whether I am a seller or buyer.

While I am hopeful the new Philly show is successful, I am worried about the effect on Hofstra and hope they keep the dates apart in the future. With Ebay becoming a BIN wasteland, maybe the better regional shows will make a comeback. Hope so.

I just had a super great (that's better than great for you slow guys) chat with Marco. He's one of us!! I am going to have a B and L table right in the auctioneer section. I will be heckling and hootin' and hollerin' with all you guys. Marco also is going to be our newest advertiser on Net54baseball.com ....overall, just a great conversation. I think he and I could have talked for hours and never got bored. I am looking forward to it!!! See ya'll there...

C'mon Alan. You are an unforgettable guy. I don't know you too well but I have a feeling you are who my grandmother wanted me to be :). I still love the irony of your beer mug toasts (from someone that doesn't drink). I love it. Great symbolism. Hope all is well and see ya' there.

I have been in touch with Marco recently and he is an absolute pleasure to deal with. I am really looking forward to meeting friends at the show and having a great time. To me, half the fun in the hobby is the friends we make. Also, please note the nice new CSA shows banner at the top of all of the pages on Net54, in the rotation. Very nice banner indeed!!

That being said, I want to stay wherever most of the out of town dealers will be staying. Does anyone know that?
