I know this is getting old, but this T206 Cobb is a reprint. At least, I'm 99.9% sure. It's a good reprint, but a bit too symmetrical corner wear, and more importantly, the washed-out look should set-off air raid sirens. But alas, some bidders obviously do not have their shields up. Ho, Ho, Ho, Merry Christmas.... By the way, darkstar37 (the seller) deals in prewar cards so they should know better (and probably does know better)...

Looks pretty good to me.

Not saying I would buy it because the picture is very bad and doesn't allow you to look at it closely enough, but just that it looked pretty good.

its a reprint,
I contacted the seller a couple day ago and told them how to tell. they never replied so Im sure they knew.

The caption is misaligned. both "BB's" in "COBB" should be to the left of the edge of the pants
Besides that the only other obvious thing is the "washed out" color, and you cant say its the camera because the table is nice and dark.

He definitely knew it was a reprint. He sold the card before and received this feedback.

"Sold me a reprint T206 Cobb listed as an original. Did provide a full refund."

Here's the listing.

He said an auction house authenticated it. Which auction house; Bob Connelly?

So, is he basically just hoping that the buyer will not send it in to be graded? He states in the auction that he assures is validity.

Ted Nelson: But why do they put a guarantee on the box?

Tommy: Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of sh*t.

Wish ebay allowed you to contact the high bidder.
Hate to see someone pay big money for a reprint like this.

Isn't it interesting that someone with a feedback of over 9000 can afford $40 bucks for a scanner?

I was thinking the same thing. I contacted winning bidder in the past on a modern card that I had bought and subsequently returned. It looked good on the site but was severely under measurement when it showed up.

I told the seller, then returned it, and got the money back. But I kept monitoring to see what the seller would do. Sure enough, he relisted it. I had to wait until the new buyer left feedback. Once that happened, I knew his name and let him know that the card he had was not good, but unfortunately, that's a little too late. At least he knows not to keep buying from that guy.

If the seller leaves feedback for him after he pays, then you can get a jump on contacting him.

Uh, not if the scum bag seller has private sales.

ACOFIND is a KNOWN seller of fake and reproduction items many of them either baseball or advertising related (he has some on right now) but all of his listings are private.

I have reported this guy numerous times over the last four years but eBay STILL allows him to sell. I know for a fact that he has ripped people off for tens of thousands of dollars but eBay does nothing about it. I cant go to the police because I am not going to waste my money buying a fake from him and I can not tell the high bidders they are buying fake items because when I try, all it says is private listing.

By allowing private listings, eBay has created the perfect vehicle for scam artists to survive and thrive.
