I've been away from T206's for a while. As expected, knowledge about the set has increased and interest in certain cards has evolved. I have noticed that some people are getting a premium for Lundgren KC cards. I never knew this to be a particularly tough card. What is the deal? I have a PSA4 that I am considering parting with and I would like to get up to speed on facts/theories about the card as well as value. Thanks

It seems that where there's an alternate version of a player, Lundgren, Kleinow, Browne.... that the more plentiful version has experienced a bump in price. I think it's because some folks think that if one is more difficult than a common card, then the other must be too, to a lesser extent. That's what I think, and I've seen that for a dozen years or so.

Also, if a common card shares an identical image with a scarce one, collectors like to have it.

This is a phenomenon that is also shared by Magee Portrait, corrected version. I have had hard core collectors of T206 tell me that my Magee portrait is tough because it's a Piedmont 150, which is shared by the Magie error. So not as many Piedmont 150 Magee corrections exist, or something like that....

Lundgren (K.C.) is one of the tougher commons, as borne out by population reports. It has commanded a premium for the last several years. Its relative scarcity may relate to the fact that it was not printed (or at least has not yet been confirmed) with several relatively abundant 350 series backs, including Sovereign 350, Polar Bear, Old Mill and Cycle 350.

There are more of the Chicago version graded by PSA than KC. Due to the value difference, I am sure it does not tell the whole story but maybe it means something?

T206 Collector- I think you are right about the Magee portrait. Right now ebay only has two P150 portraits, one in auction (very nice front, paper loss on back & still has 8 bids) and one PSA V/G 3 (MK) with a BIN or best offer of $499.00 !!!!
