Bob,
The back scan looks very bad to me. Probably a good reason why he unwilling to do so.

Enough said. It isn't that rare.

Oh, and he also says it still smells of tobacco 97 years later. PASS!

Agreed. Seems like the seller is trying a little too hard. I don't like the coloring of the card either and am leaning towards questionable authenticity.

On July 18th he sold a T206 George Brown.

On July 19th he received positive feedback for the card ("it is nice card thank you").

Today, July 21st, he is selling the exact same card again.

p.s. He sold the card at 8pm his time on July 18th and received the positive feedback the next morning at 10:30am. Apparently, he mails his cards via particle accelerator.

He just sold this card:

http://cgi.ebay.com/TY-COBB-GENERAL-BAKING-CO-CARD-102-/290453461158?cmd=ViewItem&pt=US_Baseball&hash=item43a06018a6

He bought this card (linked from feedback left as a buyer)

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260617308458

He sold it here for a profit:

http://cgi.ebay.com/JOE-JACKSON-1940-PLAY-BALL-CARD-225-/290453460347?cmd=ViewItem&pt=US_Baseball&hash=item43a060157b

My guess is he'll be gone soon.

Obvious crook. But, like the autograph buyers on ebay, many buyers are morons too, and keep people like this in business.

Hopefully he'll be gone, but until then, buyers should say, when there is a Cobb, Jackson, etc sooo cheap. If It walks like a duck, talks like a duck, it sure as hell isn't a goose.

Agreed, a fake. Reprint sets are for sale online. With a little 80 grit, Tetley and a no-refund policy, you've got a windfall!

Oh, rounded corners on a T200 is even less likely than a refund from Madoff.

Thanks all. It looked reprintish to me also and the back definitely looks wrong but I thought maybe I was just being too harsh.

Jim, not rare, but I'd have to say it was scarce. The St. Louis AL, which is tough, pops up every now and then but the Cardinals card seems to appear less often than any other card except the Boston NL (Braves). Just my 2 cents.

I'm not reading any more of your posts until after I finish my coffee.

I just did a spit take all over my keyboard.

I agree as a Cardinals collector, it is a scarce card. The "rare" part is that it still smells like tobacco after 97 years. That is indeed rare.

i do understand why you used the word 'rare' because I,too, have been searching for this card along with the
Boston NL for several years now.
Scarce is undoubtedly the better choice of words for the 2 cards but they
seem rare as i look and look day after day. If I weren't hoping for a bit of a bargain, the looking would've been over, i must confess.
