I'm wondering if anyone knows why some of the T206 tobacco brands shared back designs while others didn't?

Piedmont and Tolstoi use an identical design,,,and Broad Leaf,Cycle,Drum, and American Beauty(frame) use an identical design-while Sweet Caporal, Sovereign, Carolina Brights, Hindu, and EPDG, and Ty Cobb have their own solitary design.

And even though Old Mill and Polar Bear do not look alike, the outer frame design does look similar.

I was just wondering if anyone knows why this is. Any help would be appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Sincerely,Clayton

I think Ted put together a thread on this on the old forum. Try searching for "A B C D" and it might come up; just can't recall the exact thread.

Here is what Dave and Jim are referring to......

Shown here is actually the "A-B-C-C-D" version which includes the 1910 COUPON back.

My theory is....that these backs were drawn by the same T206 artist in the Spring/Summer of 1910. Therefore, we can date
the marketing of these cards to the Summer/Fall of 1910 since we have American Litho. records that reveal that the T206's
with this AB 350 back were issued in the Summer of 1910.
