I no longer set up at shows but I did do so for many years.
They were never present at any Pennsylvania show or at any National convention that I attended.
I don't believe they would ever show their faces in a public forum.
And I too would love to see those David Crockett exemplars.
I guess we should be prepared, next month, to see the hat he wore at the Alamo. Handed directly to Lee by the Mexican descendants of a soldier who was there.

I emailed Coach's Corner about the Cy Young ball they have listed that looks like it was signed in ball point pen. I told them ball point wasn't around when he played and this is what they replied back with.

Keith, ballpoint pens were common and sold in stores starting in 1945. Cy lived until Nov. 1955. In fact, they were common years before 1945 but not really available to the common people until then

Well...from what I've researched over the years, the ball point pen was not "common" before 1945, in fact, although the patent dated back to the 1800's (forget the date) the design was not very successful until around 1945 when they were massed produced and available on a wide scale to the public. I really doubt that the "elite" people were all using a product (pre 1945) that was somewhat of a failure.
With that said, could Cy have used a ball point pen...sure he could. Does that example, shakey and all, look like it would be signed by an old man (maybe closer to 1955), well..yes. Does that make that Cy Young signature authentic...not a chance.

I like that the Danny Wuerffel signed pics come with PSA/DNA certs, and better yet, the pictures of those are crystal clear!

I mean, why use your good camera / scanner on everyday items like David Crockett cuts, when you can save it for a nice big Wuerffel picture!

They got $655 for that bat signed by Clarkson and this month, a Cap Anson signed bat. Didn't they value a Clarkson single at $50,000? And they have a Clarkson signed ball this month. Pants signed by Gehrig, blah, blah, same shit.

But what's most amazing is that #155 is a Wagner signed softball, #158 is a Collins signed softball, #159 is an Ott signed softball, #162 is a Gehrig signed softball, #163 is a Speaker signed softball, #164 is a Wagner signed softballs. Also, #179-181 are balls that look the same and are signed in the same ink by Hall Of Famers. Do they look like they were signed a bit slow to you?

Love the story about the pen and Cy Young. If you have gotten away with it for 20+ years, why change now, right? After all, was there anything more amusing then the assumption that the Clarkson bat originated from the time of the sports infancy, even dated by Clarkson, 1885? Ha.

Well. I understand a man named Rodney Papufnik traveled to all the big league parks w softballs and got them signed by all the legendary hall of famers. He kept them in a "clean room" at the Frickafrac medical clinic, to maintain their beautiful condition. So, don't hate on the WONDERFUL signed softballs in the Roach's auctions. :p:mad:
