Whoa Ted, slow down - I'm still back on the American Beauty thread!

But seriously, these lists are great and I really appreciate you taking the time to share them with us. I'm bookmarking them on my browser for later review and reference, so keep 'em coming!

Thanks so much and best regards,

Ted,
Thanks. This is great stuff.

Does anybody know if there are multiple known examples of any given brown Lenox or if each are unique?

Ted-I will check my notes and get back to you

JimB-Manning has at least 2 examples and I am not 100% but there may be a second Cobb bat off.

A note to you serious T206 player's (or type) collectors with respect to LENOX and Red HINDU backs.

Regarding the 460-only series LENOX cards, they are mutually exclusive with the 460-only series Red
HINDU cards.

Rules like this are helpful to the collector in avoiding endless searches for certain front/back combos
that do not exist.

Ted,
Just checking the PSA population reports. PSA is showing BOTH T206 Orval Overall cards have been graded with Lenox backs:

Overall, hands face level - one PSA 5
Overall, hands waist level - three PSA 2's

I have not seen the Overall, hands face level, Lenox back card. Can we believe PSA on this one? If so the confirmed total is up to 79.

Overall (yellow sky) is a 350/460 subject that exists with a UZIT back.

Which tells us that there is a good probability that the LENOX back is for real.

Thanks for this new input. I will add it to the confirmed list.

Thanks for eliminating any doubts about this Orval Overall (yellow sky) card with the LENOX back.

I think there are some more LENOX cards out there, can you check your data and see if you can identify more of them.

Doolan batting.

Is that an example that theoretically *should* exist with a Lenox back, but is still yet unconfirmed? I haven't heard of one in (many) years of looking, whereas the other two Phillies McQuillan and Magee are both confirmed.

Marc

Hi Marc,

Doolan Batting theoretically "could" exist with a Lenox back. There are a number of 350/460 players that have not been confirmed with this back and there is a good possibility that some of them were not printed with a Lenox back. If you're looking for Doolan Batting I wouldn't give up hope just yet.

Thanks Ted. I am headed out of town this weekend but will then start the grade process and also do some scanning of Uzit and Lenox cards. Hoping to turn this purchase into a 2nd set. Had it complete less the big 3 about 15 years ago and sold it before a failed attempt at marriage !!

Thanks, Adam

Hey guys......

We have a confirmed Pfeister (throwing) with a Brown LENOX back, but not a Black LENOX back.

I find this very strange, as all other Brown LENOX cards have been confirmed with their normal LENOX back.

This Pfeister card should exist with a normal LENOX back.....it is just a matter of time before one shows up.

Anyhow, has anyone out there seen (or have) this front/back combo ?

Thanks,

TED Z

Hi Ted -

It's not surprising to me that a Brown Lenox has been confirmed for a card that hasn't been confirmed with a Black Lenox. IMO the Brown Lenox were a separate print run from the Black and thus could have (and probably did) have a different combination of front images on the sheet used than any of the Black Lenox sheets.

Most Brown Lenox will be found with Black Lenox also because most of the available 109 images were printed with a Black Lenox back. But I don't think we can say for certain that because one is found with Brown it should also be found with Black.

In addition Overall - (Hands At Face Level/Yellow Sky) has also been confirmed with Brown Lenox and not with Black Lenox.

There are still new confirmations of both Brown and Black Lenox to come in the future and we will learn more as they surface.

- All the best

Bringing this thread back after a 2 year absence from the front page.

Question, I've seen on t206resource.com that a McGraw w/ cap BROWN Lenox might be possible, but I was curious if anyone has seen one yet.....or should I just no longer worry about it's existence. :(

Abravefan11

Due to the small number of known brown Lenox there isn't enough information, at this time, to say with certainty that a McGraw (w/ Cap) isn't possible. My personal opinion based on what we do know now is that it's unlikely.

Hi Ted, As a minor point of clarification for newbies, it may be worth pointing out the six 350/460 superprints were issued with SC 460/30. Scot

tedzan

After I posted the scans (plus the info), I had to rush out. And, while I was out and about, I realized that I forgot to clarify exactly what you pointed out.

Hey folks..in his excellent book "Inside T206", Scot identified the 6 super-prints; and, pointed out that these 6 subjects are in a unique class of their own.

Although, it is common practice to group these 6 subjects in the 350/460 series....these 6 super-prints are actually 350-only and 460-only T206's.

Thanks Scot,
