Trimmed or not? The card DOES measure short left to right.

looks odd to me Peter.
looking at the card as presented, the right side(my right) looks a bit 'ragged' vertically, viz. not even a clean trim.
the bottom has a wee bit of a 'diamond cut' to it but the top of the card does not.
troublesome to me, but i wear bifocals.
best,
barry

At first glance, I don't think so.

First, it is a fine looking card.

Initially, I thought it just a centering issue, for both front and back. I looked at this last night, and have been thinking about it. This morning, when I just look at the card's bottom edge on the scan of the back, it looks like it is just a hair short, odd, or uneven. The wear on the card (which is perfectly acceptable to me) seems to lead me toward accepting that unevenness. But I think that wear is misleading. So I think yes, trimmed at the bottom ever so slightly, either long ago, or recently by someone who added a bit of wear. That said, that card would be welcome at my house, filling a hole in my small group of 34 Goudeys.

If you place a straight, flat piece of metal, a ruler, adjacent to the bottom edge of the card, are the two flat and continuously together, or is there a wave in that bottom edge of the card? The bottom edge is what I find slightly odd.

I think the bottom has been cut a long time ago, Slightly uneven.

Frank...The bottom edge looks pretty straight to me?

pete, is the ruler straight? do you have a level laser to survey the straightness of the ruler?

Definitely a dilemma for a professional grading service to solve.

Well looking at the scan of the card next to the straightedge, ignoring the last 2 helpful posts, and considering Chris' thoughts like I had a while ago, I'm now inclined to accept that it's not trimmed.

Placing a card up against a ruler does not rule out trimming further a card sizing up or measuring larger than another from the same issue does not rule out trimming. Pete you are right to conclude the card is fine.

Hey Frank are you this grumpy all day long or just when you post here? Holy cow!

Greg...I put the 2 cards side by side more 4 my benefit...as the other doesn't look trimmed to me...while the gehrig does. Maybe the off centeredness gives the illusion of a trim to me...combined with the fact the card measures short!

I most likely will not send it in for grading...assuming I don't return it.

The ruler does make it look straight, but the picture you blew up at 9:02 am makes the bottom look jagged. I still think it has been cut,but then again what do i know.

I almost bought that card, but my bid did not register in time. I have bought other cards from him. He's a good seller, he will want to make you happy if you find a problem.

If you plan to sell that card some day you should consider PSA in this instance. I bought a raw 41' PlayBall Ted Williams from eBay. I thought I was going to keep it so I sent it to PSA and it came back
VG-EX (MK). I had to sell it so I could add to my 34's I was surprised that it sold for twice than what I bought it for a couple of months ago. A higher numerical grade with a qualifier will trump the lower grade with no Q (on eBay)

P.S. I kinda thought the edges on the williams looked funny too. One looked like it had a kink in it. Not the same seller though.
