There is one on ebay and the card looks gorgeous. I don't understand why it's not a PSA 10? Has anyone ever seen the PSA 10?

in my opinion , this card is over graded.... it has the typical OPC rough edges. With edges that rough, it shouldn't be graded a 9

the 10 is a sheet cut with modern technology, so no rough edges.

PSA doesn't grade sheet cut OPC, only Beckett does. It's impossible to have an authentic 1979 OPC card without rough edges. It's simply how the cards were produced at that time. If you ever see a smooth edge OPC card, it's trimmed.

i've seen picture of BVG 9.5 Gretzky, and it's definitely sheet cut. If i remember correctly, i met a dealer in Toronto show who claimed that he (Martin's sports, i think) was the one who sheet card the BVG 9.5 Gretzky's OPC RC.

That is a nice looking 9. I prefer rough edges on these cards.

However, when you open packs of 79-80 OPC some cards come out of the packs pretty clean cut. A card that is clean cut is not always sheet cut.

I have not seen the PSA 10 Gretzky in a while but if I remember correctly it had a slight rough cut unlike the BGS 9.5

It is a nice card, he describes it as 50/50 all around which it is not, centering is maybe 60/40 at best on the front. It doesn't have nice edges for an OPC card but the top right corner doesn't look a tiny bit white.. although that could be the scan

The psa9's have a much clearer photo, the bvg seems grainy and not bright or crisp, still a nice card, good luck with the sale.

Sorry to interrupt, but since a few people that know about this card, I am looking to buy a Gretzky rookie very soon. My first question is: What is the difference between the Topps/OPC version in terms of appearance? Just the rough cut for OPCs, isn't the back a different paper quality? How about volume? I have heard the difference is x2 of Topps copies but don't really know that for sure...

I'm looking for one as well, going to go with an OPC version. Best hockey card EVER!
