I picked up my first R314 Type 5's and noticed something interesting. I always assumed that the cream color of the cards was due to the color of the card stock. Apparently, this isn't the case. Look at the top edge of the card below. It is pure white. It looks like the entire card was printed with the creamy yellow color, and then black dots were added over the creamy yellow color to create the picture. On this particular card, the creamy yellow color didn't make it quite to the top edge. I've looked at the creamy yellow color in the borders under a magnifying glass and it is clearly a solid color -- not dots.

Have any of you ever noticed this before?

Hi Paul, Ive noticed that too. I have a couple that also have that line across the top where there is no yellow color.

Ive even had some that looked more "aged" with a much darker color overall. It kind of looks like the paper had a layer of yellow coating over the lighter natural paper color.

Here are 2 Moreau's
(scanned with same settings, same time)

the one on left has the same line across top
