Need a little help guys. Trying to ID the team on the following rppc's. Jerseys say Washington, but can't pin point if it's a minor league or just a town team.
Love the coats. My guess, 1907-1910-ish era........ Thoughts??

Tony: Uniforms look too nice to be a beer league team. Baseball-Reference.com has Washington minor league teams in Indiana (no info) and Pennsylvania (1905-07). The Pa. squad had Bill McKechnie in '06 and '07. Wishful thinking has him first row, second from left, ears & jaws maybe, nose probably not. Disclaimer: This is a wild guess. Really nice postcards, brah.

Iowa?? Disregard above wild hypothesis. Anything is possible if you don't know what you're talking about.

IMO just a small town named Washington. It's possible that it's a minor league team there was a Washington, Indiana and Washington, Pennsylvania in the lower minor leagues at the time that photo could have been taken.

Not sure if it helps the search, but on the reverse it's stamped Frey's Studio Washington, Iowa. Headquarters for amateur supplies & finishing.

Washington, Iowa was never in any minor league. It's just a well dressed town team.

Thanks Dan. Well dressed they are. The players coats and medical bag sitting between the middle players legs, bottom row gives the photo a nice touch.

Just had a thought...when did it become the fashion for people to smile in photos? We all have heard "smile" or "say cheese" but many of the early baseball photos I have seen rarely have the player(s) smiling. Just musing...

Nice postcards though!!

Joshua that's a good point. In all older photo's, cabinets, etc, baseball related or not you saw very few smiles if any. Maybe everyone just had bad teeth. :D

Exposure time for a photo was a bit longer for early photography. Ever notice 19th century photos with an animal where it looks like a blur but everything else in the photo is sharp? Easier to have a relaxed face instead of smiling.
