Hey guys... I wanted to share this cool story with the board... I just picked up a very interesting T206... check out the back with the "Meet Us at Wilmington" sticker, dated 11/9/09...

I thought it was cool that a T206 made it through all these years with a campaign sticker from 1909 attached to it..So I did a little digging online and found this article.. which describes the visit of Taft to Wilmington on 11/9/09

Just scroll slightly down once at the link to see the article

Curious if any other T206's out there have history specific events tied to them...

Jamie,

That is one of the coolest T206s I've seen in quite awhile.

Congrats on a very neat pickup. Let me know if you ever get tired of that one.

Scott

...But I wonder when this was added to that Schulte card. The "sticker" looks hand cut and has wear that is inconsistent with the wear of te T206 back. In addition, it appears larger than the back so you would expect it to carry over a little to the front, folder over the edge. That someone took the time to cut this to fit the back of your T206 perfectly along the edges -- and the wear being so different -- suggests to me this was added by a collector as a one-off, perhaps some time after 1909.

Still, nifty card!

I was thinking the same thing. Looks like it was put on some time after the actual date. Still, a neat item.

After reading the article... I saw the part where Taft went and met school children and spoke to them... it was here in the story that I could picture the sticker being put on the back of some kids T206... oh well.. it made sense in my head :)

even if it was put on at a later date.. still a cool story..

PS maybe the sticker got stepped on by a horse and carriage and then picked up by the driver of the carriage.. who had scissors to cut the sticker..and then put it on his sons t206... :p
