I just picked up this Mantle & Mays NIB toy from 1967. Should make for a neat display. I'm a sucker for the '50's and '60's stuff like this, especially in their original packaging.

Jimmy, Ive seen a lot of the Mantle games/toys over years, and I dont' recall seeing that one. Great items in original packaging.

Does a puzzle count. Still have not learned anything about this thing.

Here's a couple -- the catching target has a Spalding target.
The spinner game features is a World Series between the Giants and A's -- the discs feature players like Mathewson and Marquard.

Sweet pickup Jimmy. Never seen that game before. Really cool piece. Congrats.
Some of my games and stuff...
First is a circa 1910 Carrom Archarena table top game.
A pair of 1930s toys
Parlor Base Ball board game
1944 Pro Baseball spinner spinner game. Unused in the original box. Bought at FAO Schwarz
And lastly the game board for the 1886 McGloughlin Brothers Game of Base Ball. Wish I had the box :(

Jimmy:
I have never seen that either. Amazing find, and perhaps one-of-a-kind in that pristine condition!

SayHey24:
Your huge A's/Giants Spinner Game has to be the coolest thing ever. Can you briefly describe how it's played? Awesome early game!

Here are some of my nicer ones... I find the early arcade style to have stunning visual appeal. The Marvel Pop Up Game is frustrating as hell to play, and I attribute much of my grey hair to this one. I'll try to post a few more later...

Wow Mark! Really killer games. Are they all in working condition?
I have bid on the Marvel game several times and always seem to come up short. How do you play it?

Mark, those games look clean as a whistle! I hear ya on the difficulty of that game. It's addictive as hell. I'll post my baseball gumball machines later.

Bubble gum machines. One sold on Ebay recently, but mine has the key. Also other games.

All - Really nice games. Mark - How big is that pinball game? If it's full size where do you keep it? You've got so much cool stuff I've always wondered how you store/display it all. :)

- "Hit a Homer" baseball coin operated game c.1940s

We got all worked up when we saw this thread -- ah!, at last a chance to show off some of
our stuff! -- and now already we feel like total pikers once again.
Beautiful stuff, guys, all of 'em.

Nonetheless, barking from the low-rent district, our three most recent acquisitions:

Now that I've seen all of those terrific arcade games, I'm feeling like I have to have maybe just one for my collection. ;)

Brock and Ricky...
Yes, they all work great. I was a real stickler for condition.... probably borderline OCD. The big Pitch & Hit Machine has a couple of burnt out lights but is really fun to play and works great. I play it a lot with my kids' friends who come over, and have never seen anything like it. They think it's so "old school", compared to the XBox and Play Station games they do practically every day. The feature I like best is the runners who circle the bases under the curved window.

This one is from the early 1950s. They started making them with more features and multiple players in the later '50s and '60s. But this one has more charm with the wood rails and early graphics. The Marvel Game is just an exercise in futility. You shoot the ball and then have to try to guess where it's going, and position the fielder below it. But the little pegs derail it every time and throw you off. Also, to move the fielder, you have to turn the knob in the opposite direction you want him to go. This makes it feel awkward and adds to the difficulty. Every now and then, I get lucky and catch one. This one takes the most practice of any arcade game I've ever played. There's another tough one (that I'll post later), with a spiral ball path. It is almost as difficult.

Joe...
I keep that big one in the Living Room. It was the only place I could fit it in. Plus, the movers didn't want to mess with any stairs. It's kind of an eye sore to some people (and granted, it probably doesn't belong in a Living Room). But it brings lots of enjoyment and reminds me of simpler days. I used to love playing these as a kid. Disneyland even had a bunch of them lined up in their arcade on Main Street.

Also... I love the look of your "Hit a Homer" game... great graphics! Can you briefly describe how it's played? It looks simple, but I can't tell how scoring would occur. Is it a fun one to play?

Thanks!
Mark

Here are a few more toy and game odds and ends:

Mark -- The Giants/A's World Series game is pretty simplistic -- when the four-tipped spinner stops, you look first at the spinner pointing to home plate and it's pointing at what has just happened to the batter -- then the other three tips of the spinner tell you what happens to whatever runners are on at the time. there are little discs with the palyers names on them that you move around the base paths. There are also great graphics of people in the stands between first and third that you can't see in the photo.

It looks like we have the same Williams Deluxe pinball game -- here's a closeup of the playing field.

Ricky -- what the heck is #20 doing in your Little League game???!!!

Great Stuff! In the background of one of the pics, I like the unopened Salada Pudding box. I had one of those at one time, wish I still did.

Greg...

Thanks for explaining... I just love that Giants/A's game... so attractive and unique!

And I can't believe we have the same Williams Deluxe Pinball Machine! It is not one you see often, and is really one of the rarer/earlier Pitch & Hit Machines. Yours looks great! I like the red marquis at the top of yours.

Thanks for the info, and for posting all the amaysin' stuff!

Wanted to revive this great thread with a couple of related items I forgot to post originally.

The Ruth Mutoscope has a cool reel that features the Babe in pre-game warm ups, then blasting a homer and being congratulated by Gehrig as he crosses the plate.

Wanted to revive this great thread with a couple of related items I forgot to post originally.

The Ruth Mutoscope has a cool reel that features the Babe in pre-game warm ups, then blasting a homer and being congratulated by Gehrig as he crosses the plate.

I awoke to use the John and crawled back into bed. I toss and turn a few times, open my eyes and I find myself in a stare down with Lou Gehrig (Conlon/Gehrig eyes photo is my screen saver).

So I take a quick look at net54 and come across one of the finest pieces of Baseball Memorabilia I have ever seen!:eek::eek:

Jeez Mark, this thread has been like watching the fireworks show at Disneyland and you just nuked it with your Grand Finale! Wow wow wow - that Ruth Mutoscope is as breathtaking a piece as I have seen.

I want to go on and on and on but don't want the board to start whispering...Jimmy likes Mark - Jimmy likes Mark!

I gotta hear the story on that one, please.

Now... how the Hell am I gonna get back to sleep!

What the heck are you doing sleeping at 1:37PM?:D

Mark,
That is great mutoscope. Congrats on finding it.

You all have shown some great items.

I don't feel like mine ranks with some of the amazing items that others have posted, but it's still among the best $8 items I've ever purchased...

The box is about 2 feet square. Sorry for the shaky pictures.

I've always liked this ring and when I found this one in flawless condition, I had to bite. I WISH that the ad was mine. I think I lifted it from an auction catalog. But ya never know, maybe I'll find one someday.
