I'm reading Donald Gropman's book of Joe Jackson again, and noticing little things that I'd missed the first time around, like the fact that several of the 1919 White Sox, after their banishment in 1920, began a barnstorming team actually called the "Black Sox." Has anyone ever seen a picture of this team? An advertisement? Anything?

Say It Ain't So, Joe by Donald Gropman.

According to Gropman, "Clean Sox" member Dickie Kerr played on a Texas League semipro team in 1922, and once faced off against this Black Sox barnstorm team. Kerr held out for more money from owner Comisky during 1921 off-season negotiations, and when the latter refused the raise, Kerr played semipro for one season. Anyway, the contamination effect that the Black Sox had on baseball allowed Commissioner Landis to suspend Kerr for one season afterwards.

Now, I haven't seen the evidence to support every claim in Gropman's book, but it paints a foul picture of the baseball owners, and especially its appointed commissioner.
