My grandfather used to collect pencils and a couple of years ago he gave them to me. Several of the pencils seem to be an early mechanical variety and are shaped like miniture baseball bats. I am showing the ones that I found the most interesting and was hoping someone on here can give me some information on them. Mostly I would like to know how common they are, how were distributed, and an approximate value. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Sorry for the crappy pics. :(

The first one is a miniture Louisville Slugger pencil commemorating baseballs centenial. On the other side it says "Drink Schmidts City Club Beer." There is some other writing but it is worn off.

The next two are a pencil and fountain pen set from the St. Louis Browns. The markings on both are the same.

100th Anniv pencil is from 1969, and McQuinn set is from 1938-1945 (his Browns playing days). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_McQuinn
These sets were made for many teams and players throughout the 40's through 60's, and beyond. They where probably available at the stadiums to purchase as well. Fountain pen type probably from 30s and 40s, ballpoint types from 50s on.

I believe Paul means to say that the 100th Anniversary pencil is from 1939, not 1969. The same pencil (without the beer ad, of course) was available from General Mills as a premium offered on the Jack Armstrong radio program. Here's the mailer.

You will see 100th anniversary mechanical pencils both from 1939 (baseball centennial) and 1969 (100th ann. of professional baseball), but I agree that this one with the beer ad is from 1939.
