I think the count is up to 3 million for me from companies like Legendary and Memory Lane and others. I love the show, but the e-mails nor his performance was appealing to me.

Obnoxious as hell. The emails, not Tyler Grady.

It's not Tyler Grady's fault but I'm not sure I'd want JP Cohen and Doug Allen supporting me in a run for dogcatcher.

Not that I watch American Idol but I think it's cool that Derek Grady's kid is on. He must be pretty damn proud of his son.

Weird, I haven't received any such e-mails. They must know that I'm a fan of Andrew Garcia....

I haven't seen a total of two minutes of American Idol ever, but have received notifications. It is interesting, and will probably mention it to a friend or family member.

I've been getting them, too, several sources and at least one a day from Memory Lane. I think the show is lame. :(

I've received a couple, not a fan of the show but I am rooting for him.

Well, he didn't receive enough votes and will no longer be on the show so that should stop the emails.

Too bad, I was pulling for him. :(

I just heard he got eliminated....

He did a good job. He's a talented kid. I don't watch the show, but I did watch his performances.

For one, I thought it was kind of cool to see people from all facets of the hobby all pulling for the kid. The emails didn't bother me one bit.

Wow, I actually watched that show. I'm not a regular or anything but the wife likes to watch every once in awhile. Taking 2 hours to get through 12 shortened song performances is a bit tough to sit through.

I didn't think there was any way he'd get kicked off. There were at least half a dozen other performances that were weaker then his.

My daughter was upset he got tossed....

I believe that he didn't make the cut because surprisingly few teenage girls collect graded vintage cards. Now if he only could have tapped into the raw vote...

My wife and I thought Tyler did a fairly good rendition of "American Woman" in his performance last week.
After all, he is not the The Guess Who. However, relative to the other contestants, he was pretty good.
Anyhow, Tyler was the only one of the 12 guys to sing a song that I recognized.

So, it was very disappointing to see Tyler eliminated on the first cut. He didn't get a chance to show his
talent.

Ted,

Although both you and I think of "American Woman" as a Guess Who song, anyone under tha age of 30 thinks Lenny Kravitz.

:D

Very true....but, at my age my mind is regressing back to my younger days.

Actually, this is a good thing, since I can clearly remember events from the 1950's, '60s, '70s, '80s
and '90s better than more recent times.

Jim,

I disprove your theory. I am 28 and I have The Guess Who's Greatest Hits.

I worked in an oldies record shop for 4 years, the 1960's is my favorite music decade. I have even seen Tommy Roe perform live...not too many 28 year olds can say that!

I didn't say you haven't heard of The Guess Who. My kids are 16 and 20 and they've heard of The Guess Who. They just think that version is inferior to Lenny Kravitz.

The more I listen, the more I tend to agree with them. (And I still blame Lenny Kravitz for ruining The Cosby Show!)

The guess who? That halftime show was painful to watch, they have seen better days.

HAHA maybe he is to blame, but once all the kids grew up it wasn't the same!

I predict that The Who's performance at the Super Bowl was their last ever. They will either move to other projects or retire.

Watching Pete Townsend attempting to execute the windmill guitar move he is so famous for, while a pregnant looking Roger Daltry tried to recapture a tiny % of his former self, was one of the saddest things I've ever seen.

I blame Janet Jackson. ;)

It was disappointing, for sure. Roger's voice appeared to be shot. And Townsend is losing his hearing. Not a promising state of affairs.

Daltry's voice was really bad, not quite as bad as Eric Burdon's (Animals), but still painful to listen to for me. I am glad that I got to hear Burdon, Springsteen, Neil Young, CSN, Bob Seegar, etc in their prime...:)

There was actually a proposition bet in Vegas, an over/under, on the number of windmills Townshend would do. The number was six so if you had the over you won! Nothing on whether or not his distended milky white belly whould show or not...

Bob- Eric Burdon's is beyond bad. When he sings "House of the Rising Sun" I have to shut off the sound.

Keep in mind that Daltry is like 65. As for Springsteen, he turned 60 recently and he still looks and sounds pretty damn good for his age.

Yes, blame Janet Jackson. But at least they didn't trot out all those tweeners who pretended to know and care about The Who.

Working in a record store prepares a person to know who The Guess Who are, but 9.5 out of 10 will turn the title of the band's name into an Abbott and Costello skit and think they invented that joke, while having never heard of them. They will know the Kravitz version (like anything remade and everything seems to be either sampled or remade nowadays), but will be unsure that it originated somewhere else. Nothing upsets me more than listening to Sheryl Crow sing "The First Cut Is The Deepest", anyone doing "Bohemian Rhapsody" or Celine Dion singing AC/DC.

And I would appreciate it if Memory Lane not send me more e-mails than they already do.

I would have recommended Tyler cover the Dead Kennedys' Nazi Punks F**k Off or Too Drunk to F**k.

Just kidding. I would have recommended Discharge's State Violence State Control.

Duly note that I recommend covers of those songs for every occasion. And I can play a mean Let's Lynch the Landlord on tenor recorder.

Just kidding. I'm just being a smart ass. Though I can play the tenor recorder, so if anyone had the sheet music.
