This may turn out to be one of my more unique ebay transactions. Last week for less then 20 bucks I won a 1870's Japanese school book with what Robert Edwards Auctions calls the earliest Japanese image of a baseball like game. While the image is clearly not baseball as we know it, it is very similar to images found in American school books over the 1840's. It sold at auction in 2006 for $522. While I think the item is very neat ( and fits in with an earlier collection of early baseball images) it is a bit outside my current Negro League Focus and in so comes my question how to decide when to flip an item- with good luck I could probably make a couple of hundred bucks ( a huge amount in my collecting budget) but at the same time I probaly would never be able to find another copy of this book again. Thoughts and share some of your stories of finds and decisions whether to flip

It sold at auction in 1873 for $522.

What does that translate into in today's dollar?

Great find. I found one on ebay about 5 years ago for like $100. I sold it at a National a few years ago for like $250.
