I haven't seen any of these before, is it homemade ? I would think infringement rights would be in violation if there really is a SCG grading company. What is up with this nice trimmed card ?

I've not seen such a thing.
It does look homemade to me.
I doubt that SGC has copyrighted anything that this violates.
The seller hasn't sold anything in 15 months, that raises my suspicions.
The card definitely looks trimmed, and the entire deal looks to be a scam of sorts.

And might I add, that josefina1747 (ebay id) guy who created these holders is a:

In my opinion it violates trademarks, etc. If you come out with an album 'Thrilller' by Michael Jacckson, you will be sued and lose. The label is clearly mimicking SCG's name and label style for the purposes of tricking people into thinking it's SGC. It might be judged as worse than trademark infringment and be judged as outright fraud.

That holder is one scary looking contraption. I believe Vlad the Impaler had one of those to interrogate Bulgarians.

In my opinion it violates trademarks, etc. If you come out with an album 'Thrilller' by Michael Jacckson, you will be sued and lose. If you come out with a baseball label 'SGC' with the same label style, if not color, you will have your holders will rightly be removed.

The holder looks like some dungeon torture device.

Well I agree with what you say about trademarks, it just doesn't seem to me that SGC registered a trademark on their holders, I looked at one I cracked and I see no trademark claim. And if there's no trademark, then it can't be violated.

I think gimble200 used to post here and on the non sport side.

It reminds me when Homer Simpson went shopping for TV's and looked at such brands as Sorny, Panaphonics, and Magnetbox.

Gimble200 is a regular board member here, although I'm not sure what his screen name is on this board. He also is a long time reputable dealer, albeit using another ebay ID. I'll bet many of us have purchased from him.

He's NOT josefina1747. I'm not sure his actions are the problem here. He didn't create this grading service. He didn't grade the card. He is reselling a card from a questionable TPG and we all know that and can determine what it's worth.

Edited to add: Looking at the 2 different accounts, he's got great feedback in both. Perhaps this is a personal account and the other is his business? I'm just speculating.

Well it might be prudent in any case to mention that this seems to be the "mini" version of the card, graded or not. I don't see that in the listing.

Just because someone else graded a trimmed card Mint doesn't, in my estimation, excuse a seller who knows it's trimmed and that the grading service is BS but doesn't say so.

I've seen a few SCG's pop up now & then.
Here's another one taken from a diff seller on eBay

I'm not excusing him. I just didn't want him to be cooked in the same pot as the other guy they were talking about. (We do tend to jump to conclusions at times on this board.)

I agree he probably should have crossed it to a reputable grading service or disclosed the trim.

Edited to add: Seller has ended the listing and removed the picture.

Holy Crap!! I am the unfortunate seller of the card.. I have been away all day helping a friend remodel his house. I return home, pull up Net54 and start browsing. I start reading this thread and laugh only to realize its me selling the card. My account has been hijacked! This is my personal account, an old account. I have no idea how they got my info and were able to list an item for sale. The auction has been ended. I am waiting to hear Ebays response. I am very sorry this happened and am glad no one used the buy it now. Obviosusly the card is BS, I can only assume someone tried using my account in hopes of a quick sale and I would never know. I will keep you posted and this is all the more reason to change your passwords frequently. - Chris

Unfortunate to say the least and good luck Chris, I certainly hope this does not damage your rep. I appreciate honest people coming on hear to tell their side and I did change my password this evening on your advice. Thank you.

I echo Rawn's thoughts Chris. I never thought of the hijack possibility, but I knew there was something wrong when I saw who the seller was. I've bought a few things from you over the years. Enough to know you probably wouldn't trash your reputation for a couple of hundred bucks.

I edited out the link. The thought of a hi-jacked acct did cross my mind after I saw all the good feedback and it didn't make any sense. I'm glad you found out your acct was highjacked.

I thought those old style SGC holders like this http://bit.ly/2eIkwd said SCG on them, but they just said SG on the front. Oops!
