In memory of the Freddie Mercury reference (in a prior thread). Lets see some cards with "VERTICALS......"

Would the classic Hughie Jennings pose qualify as a half-vertical?

I'd say it counts but at the same time it's disqualified on the grounds that old Hughie overworked that pose. Did he always have to use it anytime a photographer was around??? It's darn near imprinted on my cranium (and yours too), sorta like DNA :p.

Whoa, so far that Batter-up Pep Young (#195) card will give Freddie Mercury a run for his money. From that angle it darn near looks like he is jumping 20 feet in the air!

Iggy - I think Ross Youngs in his E121 gives Pep a run for his money.

Jeff, that skinny dude with the basketball is coming-up short on his dunk. He is disqualified on two counts, first for missing the dunk and secondly if you search for him on google. He didn't even make it past double AA!

Lovely Day...

Never noticed before, but the Ross Youngs E121 (as posted previously) has a cool shadow of him below his feet.

Yeah - it's that shadow which tips us to how high off the ground he actually is.

I think this is my only one (besides the Diamond Star posted above and cards from recent Topps sets)... Sorry that it's a 1961... It is a neat card, though...

Jeff,

When I first saw this thread, I immediately thought of that Rigney card you posted. He looks like he's floating in space. From looking at the images, it's safe to say the 1920s were the golden years of "verticals."

Tsaiko - welcome to the forum and great card! What are your collecting interests?

Welcome Tsaiko !

Sweet T210... I believe Moran and Pepe are the only Vertical T210's in the Series 8 subset....

Thanks for the welcome. I'm really serious about not being a collector, but I love the cards I have and think they are beautiful.

I wanted to learn something about them, then found this site and have been getting an education ever since.

I really enjoy looking at your cards and hearing the stories behind them.

I lurked for a few weeks, but had to join so I could see the pictures that only members can see.

Now that I'm a member, what's the secret of posting pictures that can't be seen by non members

I clearly didn't do it above.

I really don't belong here, because I don't have a passion for collecting, but I do appreciate it immensely.

Btw, when you say vertical, does that mean off the ground or just the pose type?

See, I really know nothing :)

The card doesn't do Clemente's vertical justice, so I included my TYPE I photograph...
