I was at a Red Sox game (unfortunately watching Beckett get killed by the Yankees) the other night. They posted a stat on the board that Johnny Damon is only 1 of 3 MLB players to get 600 hits with 3 different teams.

When I got home I tried a Google search to find the answer, but I guess I couldn't phrase the question right so I didn't get any answer close to match the question I was asking. My guesses were Buckner and ARod. Both were good guesses, but neither were correct (Buckner was less than 30 hits away from 600 while he was with the Red Sox).

Just checked, Steve Finley was 5 hits away while with Houston from making the list.

Does anyone out there know the answer?

Thanks,
Dan

"You remember Johnny Damon? You know, the guy with really long hair that Red Sox Nation loved one season and hated the next? Damon in six years with the Royals had 894 hits. In four years with the Sox, he had 730 hits. And now, completing his fourth season with the Yankees, he has 600-plus making him the first player in more than 60 years to collect 600 hits for three different teams -- joining Willie Keeler and Doc Cramer."

Sheffield has over 200 hits for 7 different teams. Must be some sort of record?

Boy, if that is not symptomatic of a wandering malcontent. 200 hits for 7 teams -- and they all screwed him!

I believe his the 20th century player
and there is another one -- either totally 19th century or turn of century

Well, if that's a valid excuse... I've been meaning to ask, didn't Rusty Staud have 500+ hits for four different teams?
