View Full Version : 10 for 10 with JSA/BVG (all but one pre-war) - quite happy!

This was the first time I've sent anything in to JSA for authentication (I just normally buy items already authenticated by them), but a buddy of mine asked if I could submit a couple of cards for him, and I decided to make it a larger submission. I decided to just go for the authenticate and encapsulate option. Here are the results:

ItemID Set Name Player Final Grade
6187869 1933 Goudey Dick Bartell Authentic
6187868 1933 Goudey Spud Davis Authentic
6187867 1933 Goudey Phil Collins Authentic
6187866 1933 Goudey Tommy Thevenow Authentic
6187865 1933 Goudey Tony Piet Authentic
6187864 1933 Goudey Earle Combs Authentic
6187863 1934-36 Batter-Up Ed Brandt Authentic
6187862 1911 Mecca Double Folders T201 B.Bergen/Z.Wheat Authentic
6187861 1911 Mecca Double Folders T201 Doyle/Meyers Authentic
6187860 1968-70 Partridge Meats * Johnny Bench Authentic

The Mecca Double Folder cards are signed by Zach Wheat and Larry Doyle respectively (those were the cards that weren't mine). The Batter up Ed Brandt and Johnny Bench cards had L of A's from JSA, but I wanted them holdered (especially the Bench). All of the Goudeys were PSA/DNA certified, but I figured this was as good a time as any to get them in for slabbing. I'm really happy about the Combs, as that is one that will get scanned then get put into the permanent collection along with the Bench.

I'll post scans of the individual cards when they arrive later this week. Now to get together a new batch to send in.

Congrats! Looking forward to seeing scans, especially of the Combs and T201s. On a side note, I really like the way BVG/JSA authenticate and holder auto cards.

While they don't scan quite as nicely as PSA slabs due to the sleeve insert, they are nicer looking in person. I'm quite happy about the Combs, as this looked to be a period signature (and I know that a lot of the items from his later years were ghost signed by his wife).

Congrats! Looking forward to seeing scans, especially of the Combs and T201s. On a side note, I really like the way BVG/JSA authenticate and holder auto cards.

The cards are back, and all scanned. I scanned the backs too, but won't post them unless asked. I've watermarked the images to prevent image theft. Here we go:

I know the Brandt is missing the sides of the card, but it's not like there are a lot of signed card options. It's a shame that the slabs dont' scan as nicely as PSA's do because of the insert, but they look great in person (especially the larger sized cards).

Love the T201s. I've only seen a handful of those signed over the years. They look great!

how much were they to get slabbed?

The Bench was an additional $8 due to the size of the card, but the rest were $20, as I chose just the authenticate and encapsulate option. If you want them graded or the autograph graded, it's $30 I believe.
