Here's a photo of a kid, who eventually made it to the major leagues.

1- Who is he?

2- Correctly identify him, I'll mail the winner the W573 card of Kentuckian Bobby Veach, who hit .310 over 14 major league seasons, played for the Tigers, Red Sox, Yankees, and Senators. A pretty good ballplayer... (That's a Detroit 'D' on his jersey.)

3- First one to post (here on the board) this kid's name wins. If no one has it after a day or so I'll start posting hints, that will gradually get better.

So who is this ballplayer?

And this is the card that goes to the winner....

Correct, Rhett.... (please email me your mailing address)

Gosh golly, dang... that didn't last long. 14 minutes... Rhett, you don't have enough to do!

Frank, thanks for the contest. However, as long as you are okay with it, I would rather keep this thread alive and pose a new "card" trivia challenge.

The person that correctly identifies the card (w/ ACC designation) that this photo-portion belongs to will be the recipient of my winnings from Frank. (ie you're gonna get the W572 Veach pictured above)

Rhett, that is fine.

I'll hold Veach until we have a winner who wants the card instead of posting a new contest!!!

And I have no Spokane Obaks... never noticed that before. I have no idea who that is...

Max, you got it. The Veach is yours!!!

I'll pass it on.

Name the series in which this card is featured. As a bonus, what is important about this year for the player featured in the card.

Tough one, Max....

You might have to give us a bit more of the card one day...

Max, that is a pretty tough one. My guess would be the 1930's Vancouver Peanuts set, but I have no idea who the player would be.

Rhett is correct. The player is Ernie Kershaw, who turns 100 this October, and still lives at home with his wife Audrey

Here is a photo of Ernie at 92, holding a team photo of the 1939 Capilanos. Also, the complete card

I would have never thought of that...

Mr. Kershaw is looking pretty good, there, as he approaches 100.

Rhett, if you're the latest winner, do I mail the card or do you have another contest?

Frank, I'll give it another round.

Name the player and the series (this one isn't as tough as Max's)

Right guy, wrong issue.

Hint: It comes from a set that has it's own heading on the front page of my website.
