Hi Everyone,
Does anyone have any information regarding these oddball cards? I recently acquired three of them, Marranville, Williams and Sisler, and have had a hard time finding information on them other than whats located at the site below.

don't know them but very interesting and odd!!!
without the shoulders, i thought immediately that they reminded me of the
knight in Monty Python -Search for the Holy Grail- who lost his arms,etc.
in duel and still called the winner a coward for leaving.

I'd also be interested in buying one of this cards. They resemble some of the early Canadian types from the 20's (Crescent Ice cream, Maple Crispette and Peggy Pop Corn). I wouldn't be surprised if this cards came from Canada.

Do this cards have blank backs, if not please post. Wondering how this cards got the name Shoulderless Candy??
I think Frank Ward gave them the "shoulderless" name because many of the players have their shoulders cropped off in the photos.
They do have some similarities to the Crescent cards. But most of these are so badly off center that I would bet that they were issued in strips and handcut. So maybe they are a very rare type of strip card from the US or Canada.

They are blank backed, and on thin stock. Anyone else out there have any of these in their collection?

Couldnt think of another name to differentiate them from other oddball cards of the 1920's
I picked up one on eBay (EA Rommel) about 8 years ago and then saw the others in a Hunt Auction. I havent seen any others since.
Feel free to rename them.
PS the cards are machine cut, thin stocked, blank backed, and the surface printing quality has a look similar to a V100.

How did you come up with the date "1923" and what makes you think there candy cards? Also how did Hunts auction classify this cards in there discription?
I think this cards are from a Ice Cream Company due to staining and moisture marks similar to Crescent Ice cream.
