Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
So, the first night lots are listed as being in extended bidding...and yet the front page shows all lots ending tomorrow night. I've received 312 emails from Mastro--woops--Legendary today to remind me that day 1 of the auction ends tonight. Perhaps one more right about now would be appropriate. Maybe Mastr--woops--Legendary doesn't want to offend anyone with another email?

Less than One Hour Left for Intial Bids!

Initial bids must be in by 9 pm CT, less than one hour from now, for Session I of our Auction of Exceptional Sports and Americana. Login now and get your bids in so you are eligible to bid in the extended bidding period for Lots 1-539, which starts at 10 pm CT.

Good Luck and Happy Bidding!

I find the "Happy Bidding" part to be especially amusing.

Posted By: Aaron M.
Huh, since when have I been anonymous? My e-mail's right there (as it always is) and you and Doug both know who I am (first name, last name, hell Doug even has my credit card number). That's weird -- so was you banning me from the site (however temporarily).

All I said was with the countdown it's confusing as to whether all lots end at 11:30 PM CST and then enter the 30-minute rule or if lots are already in the 30-minute period. A clarification on that would avoid confusion and actually help the auction (I'm bidding now just in case, but if others are still confused, then they are going to miss out if the latter is actually the case).

Posted By: Bob Freedman
The issues that occurred on Legendary Auctions tonight were due to problems on SimpleAuctions servers. Because of the performance issues on the servers, Doug Allen decided to extend the auction by one hour. In so doing, SimpleAuction inadvertently set the timer incorrectly, causing confusion. All issues have been resolved and SimpleAuction sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience. We would also like to thank Doug for his patience and support.

Bob Freedman
President, SimpleAuctionSite
Posted By: Dave F

Well, I thought the whole thing was pretty dissapointing. Although there was just one lot last night I was even interested in, after about 10-15 minutes of trying to get the auction to load I just quit. I did see later on the board here that the initial bids had been extended by an hour. Terrific, but I'm on the east coast and get up at 4:45 am....so, I went to bed.

Posted By: leon
I was bidding on 40 lots, quite honestly for resale, as there were no cards I needed for my collection (being mainly a type collector and all). Out of those 40 lots I found none that were such a good deal I wanted to go higher. People that say a lot of money was left of the table either just didn't bid or were watching a different auction, imo. The slowness was an issue earlier but the kinks got worked out and the auction ended in fine fashion. Had I "had" to have something it would have been no problem to bid more...

Posted By: Tom Boblitt
His login is interestingly appropriate..........just kidding. For transferring everything from one platform to another in the amount of time that they did, it didn't have that many major issues. There were a few NS lots that likely went below what their market value was--even from a wholesale perspective but unfortunately nothing I was bidding on. I also bid on some baseball pins but was outbid well before the updated closing times. Que sera sera....there's another day today and another auction this weekend.

Posted By: chiprop
leon - d322s went cheap. The mascot should have sold well over $2,500.00 and the common cards should have been over $1,000.00 in a high grade. Just my opinion. I can't see the whole auction, so not sure about the rest of the auction.

Posted By: Jeff Lichtman
All it takes is one shill bidder to push prices artifiically higher and create the illusion that the cards are worth more than they are. Who knows what occurred the last few times the Tip Tops were up for sale at auction? Can't we all agree that their perceived values recently increased dramatically? Perhaps there was just no one fraudulently pushing the Tip Tops last night, and the cards ended where they should have.

Posted By: barrysloate
There have been a lot of D322 on the market lately, and I think after they experienced a huge price spike about a year ago, we've seen prices soften on them.

I had bids on both the Dreyfuss and lot of 7 last night, but didn't win either. I thought both did okay but not necessarily great.

Posted By: leon
Just my opinion but the only reason anyone missed bidding last night is you were either stupid or didn't want to bid. Pick one.

And I agree with Jeff....maybe the Tip Tops weren't fraudulently run up, not that that would ever happen, and sold at their true market price. What a novel idea!! I had bids on most of the Tip Tops and commons in 5 holders (not the few toughies) are in the $800-$1000 (retail) range today. I was underbidder on some but I didn't want to have to pay $850 or more and have no meat left on the bone for resale. The mascot was a little low but there have been several for sale in the last year and it's not a card that you won't see for sale again in the next 12 mos, maybe multiple times. So, no reason to pay strong for it right now....

Anybody else showing a VERY late end time for tonight's lots?

Yes, it would appear to be an hour later than what was originally scheduled -- and the same time as when the lots went to the 30 minute clock last night, midnight EST.

Maybe I'm not understanding the clock correctly - mine shows another 7 hours 15 minutes - 12:30 EST.

No, that clock means that the 30 minute clock will end -- the earliest time the lot can end -- is at 12:30 EST. It would start at midnight and end half an hour later.

And now it just got fixed: 30 Minute Clock now reads starting at 11 pm EST, 10 CST.

btw, as for being called a liar...this A-hole poster should check with Rob L and see if I didn't ask him several days BEFORE this post who the heck this was? I have no reason to lie. Just another a-hole on the board that I hope doesn't make the transition.....idiocy abounds.....
