Posted By: Paul S
Thanks Alan. I used to live in LA. I'm sure I got it at a game when they played USC. I was a big SC fan in those days.

Posted By: barrysloate
Paul- I watched the Notre Dame-UCLA game on TV in 1974 when UCLA led by 10 points with about five minutes to go and Notre Dame finished with an 11-0 run. To this day Bill Walton is inconsolable over that loss!

Posted By: Paul S
Barry -- yes even more inconsolable than he usually is by nature. I didn't watch that game, but I do remember something around that time that before some big game he took off camping for a few days -- nobody knew where he was or could get in touch with him (not sure if that was this game.)

Posted By: barrysloate
A favorite Walton- Wooden story is when Bill showed up for the first day of practice with very long hair, and Wooden questioned him about it. Walton replied that it was an important statement for him, and that he had no plans to cut it. Wooden said he admired Bill for his strong convictions, but that his teammates sure were going to miss him that season. When Walton finally realized he was about to be suspended for not adhering to team rules, he went for a haircut immediately.
