Posted By: Paul
It's not just the abstract amount of money that's nuts. Presumably, the buyer is a card collector. Think of what else he could have gotten for the money. A really nice Old Judge hall of famer. A T206 Cobb in very nice shape. Or a nice W600 Sporting Life hall of famer. A decent complete set of Bowmans or early Topps cards. Or how about 2000 1979 Pete Rose cards. Why, why, why would somebody shell out thousands of extra dollars for the arbitrary opinion of some kid at PSA? Even if the opinion is accurate, the difference between this card and an otherwise-mint PSA5 with a hairline crease cannot be detected through the holder. Why pay for that?

Posted By: JohnnyH
Just from a collecting point of view I also kept thinking about all the other cards he could have got for what he spent on a card that books for a couple of dollars. It really makes no sense, and to think there was 3 people willing to pay over 2000.00 is truly mind boggling. Think how many cases have yet to be opened, how many sealed complete sets, and then the 5 million others out there yet to be graded ??????? So does this mean a Ozzie Smith 10 would go for 12,000.00-15,000.00 ? Wow wow wow..........

Posted By: matt
My question is how many gem mint 10's are the graders allowed to give out. 1 per month? 2, 3. that is the real mystery
