I know from doing research on them people tend to either love them or hate them, very few in between. Posted By: <b>Phil Garry</b><p>I like the set a lot, I think it has a little bit of everything, the old (Ruth, Wagner), the new (Paige RC), ultra-tough shortprints (Newhouser, etc.) and condition sensitive issues (registration, centering). All in all, one of my favorite sets from the post-war era.

It's got easy cards, tough cards, recognized variations (Aberson, Peterson and Hermanski) a myriad of color variations, retired icons, rookie cards, you name it.<br />If you're starting on this set Ted Z.'s article in Old Cardboard is a must. There isn't a lot that has been written about this set, but his article is very definitive and a great starting point.<br /><br />

As a 9 year old, I was<br />thrilled by them.....Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Stan Musial, Jackie Robinson, and many<br /> more ballplayers that I would hear play, while listening to my old Vacuum Tube radio. Here they were<br /> on little pieces of cardboard that cost me a penny to collect. You're darn tootin.....I love these Leaf<br /> cards.....and, I still do.<br /><br />Anthony<br />Thanks for the nice words regarding my article on this 1949 Leaf set in the Old Cardboard Magazine.<br /><br />Incidently people, this set is NOT a "1948-49 issue"............<br />all 98 cards (and the additional variations) in this LEAF set were issued in 1949.....period.<br /> The stupid Grading Co. have mis-labelled everyone these cards.<br />If you read my article, you will find very strong proof of this fact. And, I guarantee you that you will<br /> be convinced.....never more having to say these cards are a "1948" issue.<br /><br />TED Z<br /><br />
