Posted By: Al
Anyone collect these ? I have the 19 "card" baseball subset of the Magic Photos, plus an album, wrapper and the develpoving materials from a pack. I also have the 56 Hocus Focus baseball subset of 18 done, but have only been able to get 3 (Robinson/Mathews/Lopat) of the 55 Hocus Focus baseball items so far. Given that the checklist for the set of "23" of these is not even complete yet, I suppose completing that set is a lost cause

Posted By: Shane Hardie
I collect Cardinals team sets and have been looking for a 55 or 56 Hocus Focus Harvey Haddix. Do you have any duplicates? Are there any more Cardinals in that set?

Posted By: Al
It is hard to find any of the 48,55, or 56 isuues in great condition. They were sold in strips that had to be cut and were blank cardboard until spit on or moistened and then the picture developed. The final product can be barely discernable or fairly clear. The cardboard is also fairly thin and bangs up easily. In each case the baseball players are a subset of larger sets of actors, politicians and other famous folks.

The 48s, while not oftern available on ebay, usually go fairly inexpensively with the exception of good examples of Ruth, Gehrig and Cobb. The 56 are harder to find and usually go for more money. Williams,Robinson and Spahn are expensive.

I have found the 55 baseball items extremely hard to find and have only Robinson ( very expensive), Mathews ( expensive) and Lopat. I believe when they come up they will go for quite a bit more than the 56 or 48s.There are supposed to be 23 of the 55s according to the information on the backs of the cards, but a half dozen or so are still "unkown"

Rogers Hornby is in the 48 set.

Posted By: steve
Always thought these were kinda cool. Gave up looking for the 1955 & 56's - way too tough. The 1948's have most of the good old vintage stars. I think they are undervalued in nice grade and well centered.

Posted By: Dave Hornish
I believe the series of 23 were only issued as singles. The perforated edge series of 18 were issued in strips. I am still baffled why the two types have a different checklist. Also, I believe the Non Sport Bible indicated no cards above #96 have been found for the larger set, which allegedly is numbered to 121. This question has been posited on the Vintage Non Sport Board and nothing above #96 has yet been confirmed.

Posted By: Al
Doug..was able to pick the Bendix up on ebay last night. Good suggestion. I do not have it yet so have not seen the back, but my George Sisler card from the 48 baseball subset is numbered 17 of 19 K....how exactly is your Bendix numbered ?

I mailed you color copies of all by 1980 variations, including the Yellows and the 1980 Coins . The Stanley Yellow is graded, PSA 8. The guy who sold it to me had just auctioned 9 on ebay and I lost out on it to Keith O at $ 3 K plus as I recall. That seller told me he sent a McEnaney yellow to Keith as well as a bonus, and never got feedback or a thanks. So far I have not been able to locate a Yellow McEnaney
